Rik #1 Posted June 17, 2008 (edited) Hi,guys, anyone here know how to get the coleco 2600 game carts clean?Since the coleco 2600 carts are white, dirt shows up alot more.I have several that are just gross and dirty looking,I've tried every thing, nothing removed the ground in tough dirt stains. BigO #2 Posted June 17, 2008 Have you tried Mr. Clean Magic Eraser?
+Omegamatrix #3 Posted June 17, 2008 2nd for Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser. Does wonderful stuff on white carts (especially white Tigervision carts).
combat16 #4 Posted June 17, 2008 I also have had some success with Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser. You have to be careful using them. They are an abrasive cleaner and can wreck your cart labels. Some yellowing could be the plastic changing color. Here is a great article about this very topic. darthkur #8 Posted June 17, 2008 That was a fantastic and informative article. It is a shame that discoloration takes place. It really is very prevalent in Apple/Mac products. My Apple IIgs is snow white, my Apple ][e is approaching lemon color status and the IIc and the rest of my Macs are somewhere in between. I keep towels over all of my vintage equipment when not in use. Originally I started doing this to just keep the dust from accumulating but hopefully it will help keep the colors from fading as well. Rik #9 Posted June 17, 2008 Yeah, alot of it is just simple aging.Everything deteriorates over time. But I'll try the suggestions, getting them a little cleaner would be fine.No biggy, realy, its the game thats important, but we all like nice new looking games carts right

Why Super Nintendos Lose Their Color: Plastic Discoloration in Classic Machines I still have that Miner cart. Out of curiosity, had it been cleaned with Magic Eraser? I got it cleaned up some more, but it has a few spots on it (although it plays great! )
