KID ICARUS COMING TO NINTENDO WII

Yesterday Nintendo announced some of their fall lineup titles such as a new Wario platformer and another Kirby title. But they didn't spill all the beans. That's right, while not officially announced, inside sources at GDG headquarters report that the Big 'N' will be announcing a new Kid Icarus title in just less than three weeks!

Damn...interesting if true. First Kid Icarus game since the Game Boy version/port/sequel in 1991.

I thought the Factor 5 guys were rumored to be working on the new Kid Icarus title for the Wii?

I have been expecting a new Kid Icarus game for the Wii since they announced that Pit would be in SSBB. After all the hype over Pit Nintendo would be stupid not to make it.

I hate to say it but I never played the first two, someday I will though.

 

Hopefully its Retro Studios. Perhaps I'm oversimplifying, but the first used the Metroid engine, and the second used the Metroid II GameBoy engine. There seems to be some parallels between the Metroid and Kid Icarus series back then, so perhaps that could continue. And Retro has shown that they have the skills to successfully bring a 2d franchise into 3d.

 

And as far as I know, they don't have any announced projects that they're working on right now.

Also, my personal impression is that Pilotwings would be much better suited for Factor 5.

Not to derail the topic, but sadly I don't think we'll ever see a Pilotwings sequel. The original never was rereleased as a player's choice title despite nearly every other 1st party SuperNes game seeing rereleases. And Pilotwings 64 supposedly sold pretty poorly, and I don't believe ever saw a rerelease either.

 

If there's much of the crew at Paradigm Entertainment left that worked on titles like Pilotwings 64 and such (Which is probably pretty doubtful), I'd like to see them get the chance to produce another sequel if there's ever one.

Well Ness has appeared in the SSB series and Earthbound got a lot of hype in Nintendo Power and that never amounted to anything.

True, but Nintendo has been teasing us with EB64 for what, 10 years now? First it was on the N64, then the GC, then the DS.. that thing is a zombie of a game.

Look at Fire Emblem. There was zero Fire Emblem games in the US until Roy and Marth appeared on SSBM. I never even heard of the game before then. Now there is quite a few Fire Emblem games.

In this month's Nintendo Power, a big deal was made about Mother being a highly-requested WiiVC game. Since NP has always been such a big propaganda tool for Nintendo, perhaps they're finally tying to get Mother and/or EB3 released, in some form or other?
