SRGilbert #1 Posted June 28, 2008 (edited) Not sure if anyone else is a big Christmas dork like me, but I saw this for the first time today! I told my wife years ago how these would make cool ornaments, I guess someone heard me. If it sells well, maybe we'll see some more in the coming years. I am dissapointed that they messed with the original artwork, but for the most part I think it's pretty nice. Edited June 28, 2008 by SRGilbert
Vic George 2K3 #2 Posted June 28, 2008 As in "original artwork", you mean...what? The original Namco design of the cabinet or the Bally/Midway design?
SRGilbert #3 Posted June 28, 2008 As in "original artwork", you mean...what? The original Namco design of the cabinet or the Bally/Midway design? The artwork for the sideart and the marquee are wrong, this is what I'd expect: The cabinet design looks pretty good otherwise. Remember that this ornament is probably about 3" tall!

Vic George 2K3 #5 Posted June 28, 2008 To SRGilbert: THAT is the Bally/Midway design of the machine.
SRGilbert #6 Posted June 29, 2008 (edited) To SRGilbert: THAT is the Bally/Midway design of the machine.Well, I guess I meant it's not the artwork for the Pac-man machine I'd expect to see in the states anyway. Either way, I've never seen any Pac-man machine with that artwork. Edited June 29, 2008 by SRGilbert

If you're interested in little arcade games though , have you been to that PaperArcade website? Some of the printouts are a bit tricky , but I had fun trying to put them together. I ended up just saying 'f'this' and decided to make a few out of craft wood from the hobby shop. I used the plans from Jakobud's site and just printed them out normally. Then I cut them out and traced them onto the craft wood. Then I finally cut the wood using an Exacto knife and sanded smooth the edges with a fine grit sandpaper piece. Artwork of course , was also a huge part of the project.

Or maybe make a little machine from a GBA and some of the classic compilations, a little Ms Pacman/ Galaga machine would be awesome!
Jess Ragan #11 Posted June 30, 2008 To SRGilbert: THAT is the Bally/Midway design of the machine. I don't get why everyone is so attached to that artwork. It's dopey and has nothing to do with the actual game. I think the switch to Namco's art is a smart move... they're the ones who created Pac-Man, after all. Crimefighter #12 Posted June 30, 2008 The "original artwork" on a Pac-Man machine was THIS: Not at all what is on this ornament. Still I'm going to get one if I see one.
yuppicide #13 Posted July 2, 2008 I need that ornament! I hope they don't sell that many so it's "rare" and worth more, yet I hope they do make others. Come on, everyone chant Mappy with me.
Zwackery #14 Posted July 2, 2008 (edited) I just saw this tonight (looking for the next round of Star Wars ornaments). I'll definitely be getting one (or more) of these. Remember to check Hallmark stores the day after Xmas, you usually can get the ornaments at 50% off, then they'll go to 75%, and finally a 90% off blowout right around New Year's of anything that is left (sometimes the stores will pack up leftovers for an Xmas in July sale). BTW, the price for the ornament is $18.50. Edited July 2, 2008 by Zwackery
tremoloman2006 #15 Posted July 3, 2008 The link to the "Official" Hallmark page on this ornament can be found HERE.
+atari2600land #16 Posted November 29, 2008 I got one. Man, they're spendy, $18.99. It's a little taller than an Atari 2600 cart, so you'll need a heavy branch to hang it on. Also, it didn't come with a hook, but it does come with batteries (the little round ones.) To hear the noise and stuff, you press the two white buttons (they both play the same thing: Opening, a little in-game, invincible ghost noise, and death, then the Pac-Man header stays lit up for a little bit.)
