flammingcowz #1 Posted June 30, 2008 I've never been able to play 1 player Combat, the other tank or plane never fights back. The manual says that it is 1 or 2 players though. Is there a way to "play against the computer"
Mirage #2 Posted June 30, 2008 Where does the manual say it's for 1 player?
moycon #3 Posted June 30, 2008 I dont see in the manual where there is any reference to the number of players but it says two players on the box... http://www.atariage.com/box_page.html?Soft...mp;BoxStyleID=

DontCareAnymore #5 Posted June 30, 2008 Oh, I was going by this http://www.atari.com/us/images/games/FBK2/manual/combat.htm Well, they did say one player could play. They didn't say it'd necessarily be a whole lot of fun, though!
Mirage #6 Posted June 30, 2008 Oh, I was going by this http://www.atari.com/us/images/games/FBK2/manual/combat.htm Oh Cripes, you said the manual. You have to go by the original manual, not by the new thing written by the new company where they've probably never even played it! It's a two-player only game. A.J. Franzman #7 Posted June 30, 2008 Oh, I was going by this http://www.atari.com/us/images/games/FBK2/manual/combat.htm That's the Flashback 2 manual, which is rife with errors and omissions. Get the original manuals for the individual games here at AA.
cosmosiss #8 Posted June 30, 2008 There were a few attempts at a one player combat. I believe they are called Combat AI and Tank AI. Oh how I wish they got finished.
classicgamingguy #9 Posted June 30, 2008 That brings back a funny memory. As everyone else, I had my first Combat cart at a tender young age, and no one to play with. My brother had recently moved out, so I played Combat by myself plenty of times. My parents were less than interested in playing the game with me, so many times I'd duke it out with the "dead" target. -Steve
Video #10 Posted July 1, 2008 I was in the boat of not many friends to play this game (by the time I got one, everybody had Nintendo's and couldn't give a shit less about Atari) But I played it myself a lot, see how many times you could hit the tank befor time ran out, perfecting the bank and curve shots (I always thought it was funny how the bullet followed the front of your tank as you turned) and trying to shoot it and make it go where I wanted it to go without leaving my one spot. But eh...yeah, Combat is intended to be two playered. The tank's and planes won't do anything without a second player (or maybe you could rig a NES controller to work on Atari and have ROB play with you )
