Not a bad little setup, but I'd have to cover up that hideous Mountain Dew artwork if I won it!

Weird choice for a monitor though considering it's full of classic games. Sure it's a 22" WIDESCREEN, but for standard 4x3 monitor games (which are all of the included ones from a quick glance) it's not that great.

By my calcuations it's the equivalent of an 18" monitor in horizontal format, or worse for vertical games it's like playing on a 13" vertical monitor!

Control setup doesn't look too bad though.

I practically live off of Mountain Dew. Been drinking it non-stop ever since I can remember. Can't go a day without at least two cans.

So.....to me, that setup and artwork on the sides kick ass!!!!

According to one person claiming to be a winner, it was made by the same folks that made this (and looks to be very close, except for artwork and game list is a little different):

http://www.gamecabinetsinc.com/arcadehits.shtml

Any clue what the actual retail price is?

According to the official rules it's Approximate Retail Value is $2999.99.

These big arcade cabinets always seem to have a very high price tag.

Here is my theory to the big price tag (these are huge guesses):

* it contains rights for 58 coin-ops' ROMs $580? (guessing $10/piece average?)

* it contains rights for 120 Atari 2600 games $150? (guessing just over $1 pp?)

* the arcade controls from HAPP $150? (I could look this up, so this is just laziness to guess that)

* MDF, screws, clear plastic, graphics, paint, etc. for cabinet itself $300? (*way* guessing there)

* 22" Wide LCD High Resolution Monitor $200? (guess- I'm too lazy to look this up)

* Computer with AMD 3200+ processor, 256mb RAM, 80gig hard drive, DVD-Rom $350 (total guess)

* Speaker system with subwoofer $30 (may be low-balling it- total guess)

* $150 labor (guess!)

for a grand total guess of costs of $1910, meaning Game Cabinets Inc. would (by total guesstimation) make just over $1000 a pop.

I'm sure that I'm way off though.

Its an open ended system,designed for all gaming.

How's that?

22" 16x9 monitor is 19.2 in(w) x 10.8 in(h)

18" 4x3 horizontal monitor is 14.4 in(w) x 10.8 in(h)

13" 4x3 vertical monitor is 7.8 in(w) x 10.4 in(h)

As I stated, it looks like all of the INCLUDED games (and about 99% of all video games since the dawn of Pong) were designed for a 4x3 monitor. It's weird that a system that bills itself as an "Old School Arcade" machine would use such a monitor. It's not like you can hook an X-box 360 up to it and play widescreen games. Even if I did install newer pc games that used the full widescreen, it's hard to imaging that anyone would play it with that control setup, much less standing the entire time.

Really, that screen (and the cabinet graphics) are my only beef with the system, otherwise it's a great prize.

:) How about you give your guess then? Sounds like you might know a little about said business transaction...

So my original total guess was ~$1900, I know that has got to be way above the actual cost, but that was what my guess for parts added up to (and I was obviously way off!). How about instead, $600 for parts, not including the graphic design cost, and not including licensing fees (maybe $200 per machine?). Which would make it (not including graphic design, and not including labor) be about $800 a piece, and assuming they gave a significant discount to Pepsi to make sure they didn't use another vendor, I'm guessing maybe the price each to Pepsi was close to $2000 (+/-$200). I just love wild guesses!

If I didn't know better (and I don't) I'd guess that guy was involved in the promo or the creation of that machine and only registered here to defend it. Of course, that makes little sense given that the promo is now over. :ponder:

Yep, could be. I think it was the main guy from Game Cabinets, Inc., perhaps the President, David Flagg? D-avid... D-onger... hmm. Nah, couldn't be. ;)

I like Mountain Dew as well... so I would be one of those guys to keep the artwork and marquee on there.

They don't have a Live-Wire color scheme? Daaawwww!

Maybe I should start a mame cabinet company that customizes in caffeinated beverage branded cabinets. Talk about a niche!!

Hey, I plunked an older generation PSX into a clear plastic orange casing....

Just haven't been able to find any Mountain Dew stickers to fit the color scheme yet.

Hello! My name is Tristen Williams. I remember this contest from when I was little, my mother won this cabinet actually, we had it for the longest time and I remember playing so many games on it, my favorites being the ninja kids and thunder fox, sadly she sold it, but I'll always have fond memories of it!
