Warriorisabouttodie #3 Posted July 8, 2008 I guess no one's what I'm talking about Im sorry I can't help really, but ifyou look around you can get the same game to play on your pc without any emulation (look for N64 Doom PC or something like that). cosmosiss #5 Posted July 8, 2008 Looks like textures are missing. It's been years since I bothered with N64 emulation, but I suggest you download some video plugins and fool around with the settings. I believe rice was one of the top ones. I've been meaning to check out the progress of P64 and 1964, so I might come back with my findings.
rxd #6 Posted July 8, 2008 (edited) I didn't even know there was a decent working N64 emulator. Does anyone know how well this emulator works? Edited July 8, 2008 by rxd
Mark Wolfe #7 Posted July 8, 2008 It is definitely a plug-in issue: check around for the best settings and plug-ins per game: http://www.pj64-emu.com/by-game/
carmel_andrews #8 Posted July 8, 2008 I think the n64 emulation is likened to the jaguar emulation...i.e. inactive (none of the emu's have been updated in ages)
cosmosiss #9 Posted July 9, 2008 I didn't even know there was a decent working N64 emulator. Does anyone know how well this emulator works? With enough meddling, they work well. I've played Mario 64, Zelda OOT, Mario Kart and some others with pretty good results. I've experienced missing textures though. At one time, the ground on Zelda was like see-through, could never totally fix it. Also Mario Kart always had this annoying black squares behing the characters. Never thought of looking for a settings list (like the one Mark_Wolfe posted). Recently I tried N64 emulation on an xbox, and was surprised how good it is. Pretty much perfect video and audio. The problem is that with the slow CPU and lack of RAM, games tend to slow down and the audio skips in busy parts.
Blues_Bloody #10 Posted July 20, 2008 I haven't had many problems at all running games with project 64. The only game that I haven't got to run is Resident Evil 2. Perfect Dark freezes at a point in the 3rd level but I think they might have something to do with the cheat codes I have on. Games like Mario kart, The Aki wrestling games, and Tony Hawk work like a charm though.
carmel_andrews #11 Posted July 23, 2008 What are you doing using cheat codes...Are n64 games too hard to play without cheat codes...or don't you enjoy the challenge of finishing a game fairly and squarely
Blues_Bloody #12 Posted July 23, 2008 What are you doing using cheat codes...Are n64 games too hard to play without cheat codes...or don't you enjoy the challenge of finishing a game fairly and squarely It's solely for first person shooters. Those kind of games are lessons of frustration to me without some sort of unlimited health code. It's like " Ah! I'm getting shot at, but I can't see where they ...crap I'm dead already!" I guess I'm not very good at aiming and moving quickly within the first person environment. I do, however, enjoy the exploration aspect of those games. So yes, for me personally those games (especially Perfect Dark) are too hard to enjoy without the cheats.
