SRGilbert #3 Posted July 14, 2008 No, but it seems like I've passed up games because I thought I already had them! Now when I go out to flea markets and yard sales, I keep a pda on me with a spreadsheet that has everything.

Even worse, I just paid ~$125.00 for a boxed homebrew that I already had CIB. >re-counts gray hairs
EricDeLee #5 Posted July 14, 2008 Yep... I've done it a lot over the years. That's why I made my database. I also passed over a lot of games, because in mind, I already had them at home. Over the years, after passing up that title for a few times, I CONVINCED myself that I owned that game already. Then when I created my database, I still wonder where that game is. I've done that a few times as well. Luckily I have not spent $125 on one. But if you do something like that, all you can do is just chuckle at yourself and relist that thing! (BTW... what homebrew is $125?)
Emehr #6 Posted July 14, 2008 Didn't quite get to the buying part but I have stared at a game and wondered "Do I have this already?". That's when I decided to stop buying and start playing! Well, maybe not stop buying completely...just slow it down a little
Cobra Commander #7 Posted July 14, 2008 I sometimes buy stuff that I'm not sure about. Especially if the label is really good and the price is right. I upgrade my Activision stuff whenever I can, or if I find the occasional common CIB in the wild.
classicgamingguy #8 Posted July 14, 2008 Yep...already, and I just really started collecting. For some reason I ended up with two boxed Berzerk's, but really only wanted one complete with the instructions! On the other end, I thought I had a cart only Pitfall, but ended up with a boxed one but NO cart duplicate. Heh.. Steve
+atari2600land #9 Posted July 14, 2008 I do that sometimes. I think "Hey, this doesn't sound like something I have" when I go to the store, and then buy it and realize I already have it. When I ask for something on AA, I make sure I don't have it before I ask for it, though.
Dauber #10 Posted July 14, 2008 I've done worse...there was at least one time that I saw something on eBay that I was sure I didn't have. I even checked my list at rfgenerations.com and SAW the game on the list and thought, "Now, there's no way I have that one already! I must have put that there by mistake!" and of course, my list was correct!
