Gabriel #1 Posted July 16, 2008 Chaos Wars Yes, the voice acting is horrible. It's the worst I've ever heard. And I'm even including some fandubs of anime in that category. The plot is more incomprehensible and inane than the one in Final Fantasy Tactics. Unlike Final Fantasy Tactics, it manages to be entertainingly bad, so my inclination is not to skip the cutscenes, but to actually suffer through them. The game is OK. It's very character combo oriented. It's superficially similar to the first PS2 Arc the Lad game, but it's really just a bog standard TRPG with free (non grid) movement. Battlefields are on the small and uninteresting side so far, though. It's best played with a friend to help you give it the MST3K treatment. I think that's it's main claim to fame. Everything truly, unredeemably bad about the game can be attributed entirely to the localization. It's very similar to a lot of anime translations in that aspect, so fans of bad dubs and general stupidity will be greatly entertained. If you're into the genre, you already own the game. If you aren't into the genre, you won't care. But a few years from now, it's going to be regarded with the same love to hate it fondness as Space Mutiny or Manos: The Hands of Fate.
