2600Lives #2 Posted July 16, 2008 If I remember right, it was originally going to be developed for the NES, but dropped in favor of being the launch title for the SNES.
A Sprite #3 Posted July 16, 2008 It's a pirate original. The graphics impress, but play control takes a hit.
godslabrat #4 Posted July 16, 2008 If I remember right, it was originally going to be developed for the NES, but dropped in favor of being the launch title for the SNES. If that is true, I don't think the NES version would have reached this level of completion before being transferred to the SNES.
Wickeycolumbus #5 Posted July 16, 2008 If I remember right, it was originally going to be developed for the NES, but dropped in favor of being the launch title for the SNES. That might be true, but this one is copyrighted in 1995.
fdurso224 #6 Posted July 16, 2008 (edited) Hi guys: According to Miyamoto in the book Mario Mania in 1993 "Super Mario World was originally a title that was going to be for the NES (at the time). Unfortunately, due to insufficient memory from the NES, the title was delayed until the more powerful Super NES was launched." "What hurt SMW for the NES was that Yoshi & the many other reptiles in the games (plus the many detailed worlds) were preventing the game to work correctly. The slow down was terrible." So, Nintendo & Miyamoto literally had no choice & put the project on hold for a few years until the Super NES was developed. Anthony..... Atari5200 #9 Posted July 28, 2008 (edited) i don't know, I found the game, SMW very playable and I actually finished it. It ends after the 4th castle. but still, pretty amazing game for the NES. DKC doesn't work on my Blackjack II Edited July 28, 2008 by Atari5200

Atarifever #13 Posted July 28, 2008 (edited) It's a pirate original. The graphics impress, but play control takes a hit. Not to mention that, if the clip I linked to is right, those sounds should not be trying to come out of the NES. I'm sure if there were ever actual work done by Nintendo on the NES version it had great NES quality music, sounding almost nothing like what the SNES got. Music is actually pretty good in the Sonic NES pirates. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=na_74MqwaRo...feature=related Edited July 28, 2008 by Atarifever
