A Sprite #1 Posted July 17, 2008 (edited) The ports are wonderful, but the new games deserve a higher profile. Who's games should we be playing? Edited July 17, 2008 by A Sprite
Impaler_26 #2 Posted July 17, 2008 Hm... if you think about it most homebrews are ports or at least more or less inspired by already existing games. The only original concept that comes to my mind is Toyshop Trouble for the 2600 and Oystron for the 2600 is also worth mentioning...
+atari2600land #3 Posted July 17, 2008 Stella's Stocking!
joeybastard #4 Posted July 17, 2008 Toyshop Trouble and Marble Craze immediately come to mind.
BigO #6 Posted July 18, 2008 Hm... if you think about it most homebrews are ports or at least more or less inspired by already existing games. Along those lines (but sorta inside out and backward), I'd never heard of or played "Columns" and simlar games until I bought Strat-O-Gems. Having played Strat-O-Gems, I was inspired to buy Columns for the Genesis when it came to my awareness.
Impaler_26 #7 Posted July 18, 2008 SCSIcide/Ultra SCSIcide has an original concept too.

I thought that Gingerbread Man was fairly original as a video game concept.

Devin #10 Posted July 20, 2008 For original games, I love: Toyshop Trouble Go Fish - relaxing Elevators Amiss - damn hard (default level), but fun For ports of classic games: Four-Play - the computer is aggravating good Gunfight - Far more than just "okay" at the O.K. Corral
Impaler_26 #11 Posted July 20, 2008 Elevators Amiss is nice but it's not an original concept... This is a very rough port/translation of the A8 games Elevator Repairman and Spy's Demise; I haven't figured out an exact title yet (sound familiar? ), so feel free to make suggestions! +Nathan Strum #12 Posted July 21, 2008 There's also Reindeer Rescue and Sync (which itself has several original games in it).
+atari2600land #13 Posted July 21, 2008 GoSub is original; but; because it apparently sucks, it's not in the store anymore.
MrFish #14 Posted July 21, 2008 I vote for MGD. Although, I guess it was never officially released...
joeybastard #15 Posted July 21, 2008 I forgot about Gingerbread Man. It should definitely be up as one of the all time great original homebrews.
vdub_bobby #16 Posted July 21, 2008 Let's have a list! Which are the direct ports, which are the "indirect ports," and which are original? Mine... Go Fish! is an indirect port (of Shark! Shark! and the flash fishy game) Reindeer Rescue is original M-4 is a direct port Elevators Amiss is an indirect port, as mentioned above Squish 'Em is a direct port The hidden game in Toyshop Trouble is an original. BLiP Football is a direct port.
neotokeo2001 #17 Posted July 21, 2008 You can't get much more original then Melbourne Tatty. There is no other game like it that I know of.
segasaturn #18 Posted July 21, 2008 I would vote for: Haunted House 2 for the Atari 5200.

mos6507 #23 Posted August 31, 2008 Oystron is still my favorite. Just because it's only 4K doesn't mean it isn't good. Juno First is shaping up to be my new favorite, though.
