Tempest #1 Posted July 21, 2008 So it looks like I'll be getting my 360 sometime in the next few weeks (I'm waiting on the 60GB model to see if they have the Jasper board). Since I really haven't been paying attention to the 360 scene I'm not sure what the best games are. I'm mostly an RPG player, but I've been known to play the occasional action or strategy game. I don't care for FPS, sports games, or anything like GTA. At the moment I'm looking at picking up: Blue Dragon Lost Odyssey Infinite Undiscovery (when released) Tales of Vesperia (when released) I'll hold off on Eternal Sonata until the PS3 version comes out this fall with extended content. I also already have Oblivion and Enchanted Arms for the PS3. Any other suggestions? Tempest
yuppicide #2 Posted July 21, 2008 Dead Rising is a decent game. You're a photographer who has been dropped off in a town infested full of zombies. You're trapped in a mall and can use just about anything as a weapon. Garbage cans, soccer balls, plasma tv's, lawnmowers, etc. You can go in most of the stores and pick things up.. like for example you can put on a Lego head from the Lego store, you can pick up a guitar from the music store and beat people with it, there's different clothes you can get, etc.
moycon #3 Posted July 21, 2008 like for example you can put on a Lego head from the Lego store, you can pick up a guitar from the music store and beat people with it, there's different clothes you can get, etc. Actually those aren't Legos. I was corrected because I thought thats what they were also. Apparently it's a character from the MegaMan Games which makes sense because there are other MM items you can obtain (including the best weapon in the game) I would suggest (and I know I'll get heckled) Two Worlds. Yes it's rough around the edges. Yes the voice acting is terrible. But this game can be had for next to nothing, and has tons of exploration and fun quests and even some co-op questing. Playing Two Worlds reminded me of playing through an 80's low budget fantasy film. There was a demo on Live so you could try it out if your curious, just dont expect much and you might have some fun. Overlord is a blast and has RPG elements. I really enjoyed playing though that game. Also check out Beautiful Katamari if you haven't already. I love that game as well. Marvel Ultimate Aliance is a fun RPG set in the Marvel Universe. (Great party game) Right now I'm playing through the Xbox Live Aracde Penny Press RPG. I will say it's decent enough, its old school RPG game play, peppered with crude humor. I'm not really into the online comics so maybe I'm a bit lost. I don't know if it's worth $20 yet. Atari5200 #4 Posted July 21, 2008 I will second Two Worlds. If you look past the terrible voice acting and over all cheesyness, it actually is quite fun. It actually does some things better than Oblivion, like the ability to steal and kill people. Oblivion you seem to get caught extremely easy, Two Worlds fixes this and you will only get caught if people see or hear you, makes it loads easier to totally ransack entire villages. I liked Chromehounds for a while, it seemed to be a little repetitive, but if you like Mech games, it may be worth it, it's pretty cheap now a days. You can't go wrong with Gears of War, it's not a FPS. Also Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, is FANTASTIC online, and it's cheap.
Tempest #5 Posted July 21, 2008 I will second Two Worlds. If you look past the terrible voice acting and over all cheesyness, it actually is quite fun. I've been playing Shining Force Neo all weekend, you haven't heard terrible voice acting until you've played this game. I think I've actually become immune to it. Lord Helmet #6 Posted July 21, 2008 Marvel Ultimate Alliance seconded. Also, grab Mass Effect. Great Sci Fi action RPG.
Atari5200 #7 Posted July 21, 2008 yeah forgot about Mass Effect. Mass Effect is terrific.
moycon #8 Posted July 21, 2008 I don't know how I forgot Mass Effect. Excellent RPG!! I've played through that game twice.
+Cobra Kai #9 Posted July 21, 2008 Sorry to beat the same drum, but Bioshock is an FPS with rpg elements. It's hard to find fault with this game
JamesD #10 Posted July 22, 2008 If you are an RPG fan and don't have your heart set on elves, knights and barbarians... I'd say Mass Effect.
yuppicide #11 Posted July 22, 2008 Bioshock! Some great effects and cool stuff in that. I really enjoy Sid Meier's Pirate!'s. I used to have that on my C64. They just ported it from XBOX to the 360.
Tempest #12 Posted July 22, 2008 If you are an RPG fan and don't have your heart set on elves, knights and barbarians... I'd say Mass Effect. Yeah I pretty much only do fantasy type RPGs. Fallout is the only real exception I make... Tempest
moycon #13 Posted July 22, 2008 (edited) I would seriously consider making an exception to that exception. Edited July 22, 2008 by moycon
Atari5200 #14 Posted July 22, 2008 as would I. Other than Final Fantasy's, I to liked the Oblivion style, Two Worlds style games over the futuristic RPGs, but Mass Effect is too good of a game to pass over, if you have to make at least 1 exception, let Mass Effect be that exception.
