1982VideoGames #1 Posted July 23, 2008 For instance, do you play games for just one console at a time or do you play a couple of games for a particular console and then play games for a different console during the same gaming session? Lately, i'll set up one console and play several games over the course of an hour or so (usually in the evening to relax). For example, one night i'll set up the Sega Genesis and play a game of Sonic 2, then Road Rash, then Fire Shark; next night i'll set up an Atari 2600 and play a game of Pitfall, then River Raid, then Demon Attack. What do you guys do generally?
Atarifever #2 Posted July 23, 2008 Generally, I play my 7800. I play one game a lot for a week at a time. Occasionally, I mix it up with either a TG-16 game on the Wii or an O2 game. Mostly though, I almost always play a 7800 or 2600 game for an extended period.
1982VideoGames #3 Posted July 23, 2008 Generally, I play my 7800. I play one game a lot for a week at a time. Occasionally, I mix it up with either a TG-16 game on the Wii or an O2 game. Mostly though, I almost always play a 7800 or 2600 game for an extended period. That's what I used to do when I first started playing and collecting these systems. I'd play 2600 Pitfall all evening for several days in a row to try to last until the 20 minute clock ran out (weird thing about that was that I had dreams all night of Pitfall ). It's easy to get caught up in one particular game (to beat a high score, try to figure out how to clear a screen, etc.) and there are so many great games for every system. Ross PK #4 Posted July 23, 2008 I only ever have one system hooked up at a time, due to not really having anywhere to have several systems hooked up at once, unless they're just on the carpet but then it all just looks a mess. So I'll usually have one system hooked up long term, and I'll usually only play one game per session (since I usually enjoy spending an hour or two on any particular game that I'm playing, before I feel like turning it off and doing something else), or two at the most. These last few months though I've got into the habit of needing some sweets to suck while I'm playing a game, don't know why.
Atari5200 #5 Posted July 23, 2008 (edited) I'll get in moods. Most of my systems are displayed and they stay there. My 5200, PS2, 360 currently are the only systems that are constantly hooked up, and to be honest, the 5200 is under my bedroom tv because I have no where else to put it, the PS2 is hooked up for DVD only, and the 360 is just pure awesomenss that is hooked up to my HDTV. I'm not really a console gamer other than my 360. I finally got a new working Dreamcast so over the weekend ,I played with it a lot, but now it's shelved again. I prefer portables really, so depending on my mood, i'll have the Lynx under the end table, right now its the Turbo Express, and the PSP is always accessible. So with that said. I will either play just the 360, or I'll play a little 360 and then some portable games, or I'll play some games, and then go downstairs and play on my cabs. Either way, I'm pretty consistent, and I usually don't mix it up that often. Edited July 23, 2008 by Atari5200
n8littlefield #6 Posted July 23, 2008 I go in moods as well. Lately I've been all about Rock Band Wii and DS (I just got 4 new games for the DS, so it's been 90% DS). The 2600 hasn't gotten much love this summer frankly and I only PC game on rare occassions. I have the Wii on the living room TV and the 2600 in the bedroom - that's all the systems I own now except the DS.
godslabrat #7 Posted July 23, 2008 I play one game for a while, usually until I get a Game Over screen. Sometimes I'll play through twice. Then I'll switch to a new game, and that game will have NO connection to what I was playing before. If I'm playing Wii, I'm just as likely to switch to Genesis or Atari as I am to put in another Wii game. They're all games to me.
shadow460 #8 Posted July 24, 2008 I play whatever's handy. I have my 2600, 5200, 7800, Genesis, Saturn, N64, DC, and PS2 all partially set up and they can be ready to play in under a minute. I've got a Game Gear and a Color Game Boy right by the computer, and a PSP Slim nearby. Slim goes everywhere with me, but gets used mainly for music and internet. My NES and PS1 are hooked to my wife's TV, where they will probably stay for a while. The Flashback 2 was unhooked a couple of weeks back since we don't use it much. That said, if I'm playing short games, I'll switch systems sometimes. If I'm playing an RPG (like right now), I go all out on that one game until I'm done. I almost always have something nearby to drink while I am playing.

Seob #11 Posted July 24, 2008 Mostly i end up playing several games when i'm in a playing session on my old consoles. When i play a game sometimes memories about an other game come in mind and then i want to play that game. I have my ps2, saturn, dreamcast, n64 and cd-i hookup to the same tv set. I still have to work on a multi rf-switch and an extra shelf so i can hookup my odyssey2, atari 2600, intellivision and colecovision to the same set. My wii and ps3 are hookup to our livingroom tv. All-tough my ps3 has been resently hookup with our bedroom lcd tv since that is my only hd-ready screen. On my PC i have some first person shooters and some emulators. Lately i've been play much with a neo-geo emulator. Love those metal slug games.
chuckwalla #12 Posted July 24, 2008 I'll select a system and play a few different games on it for 1-2 hours (or until i'm ready to knock off, whichever comes first). Usually i'm too lazy to setup a new system after that - but sometimes i'll get a hankering for a specific game and get my butt up, setup the system, and PLAY
Vic George 2K3 #13 Posted July 24, 2008 I just play whatever system I feel like playing whenever I feel like playing.
