fdurso224 #1 Posted July 31, 2008 (edited) Hi guys: Is there anybody here a buff of the World Heroes series? The most underrated 2D Fighting Franchise in the history of gaming!! ADK made one hell of a series & I was curious to see if anybody else share the same view of the franchise as I do. Anthony.... Ze_ro #2 Posted July 31, 2008 I used to really love World Heroes back in the days, but the series really hasn't aged well. There was some good in it, but SNK's other fighters quickly eclipsed World Heroes in almost every regard. The characters are all pretty cliche, not many moves for each character, somewhat mediocre control, and somewhat poor graphics (They were good when the game came out, but never really got improved in sequels). That being said, I used to love the "deathmatch" levels in the original, and I have a copy of World Heroes Perfect (MVS) and World Heroes Collection (PS2) that I fire up now and then for a go. --Zero

Atari5200 #4 Posted July 31, 2008 i have part 1 and 2 for MVS...for sale right now...because I don't like them at all. maybe if I didn't have Samurai Showdown, KOF 95,96,97, 2003, it might be different, but when I have so many much much better fighters to play, yeah there's no love for WH 1 and 2. plus the last boss is so frickin cheap. Jess Ragan #5 Posted July 31, 2008 I like the ridiculous, over the top super moves in World Heroes Perfect. Dragon (Bruce Lee) circles around his enemy, hammering him with punches, while Rasputin (uh, Rasputin) creates a magic love garden and drags his opponent into it for some hot sex. so_tough! #6 Posted July 31, 2008 World Heroes 2 Jet was the first game I completed for my neo geo
Reaperman #7 Posted July 31, 2008 (edited) I've never paid it any attention (never even tried it) but seeing all the fans I'll have to give it a whirl. Earlier titles in the series are about the least expensive titles I can buy for my MVS, so if it's fun, count me in. So many good fighting games on that system. I often wondered why they didn't have one that featured notable historical characters. cyber-abraham lincoln vs. marie antoinette with tag-ins from gandhi... Unlicensed characters at their finest. PressureCooker2600 #8 Posted August 1, 2008 I always liked the cyber-nazi M. Bison rip-off guy............I always got my ass kicked but it was still a fun game. Especially the deathmatch levels with the electricity and spikes on the sides of the screen.
Freakin' Duck #9 Posted August 1, 2008 I had World Heroes for SNES. I didn't play it as much as Street Fighter II, but it was awesome.
Atari5200 #10 Posted August 1, 2008 The SNES Neo ports I've played have been surprisingly faithful to the originals, granted the sprites may not have been as big, and some animations missing, SS no zoom feature, but they were still quite good.
2600Lives #11 Posted August 2, 2008 Oh, man, did I play me some World Heroes back in the day. Specifically, WH2. 1 was just WAY too slow. I owned with Brocken, Mudman, and J. Maximum. Damn good series that just got lost in the shuffle of flashier Neo titles.

BassGuitari #13 Posted August 2, 2008 I was a fan back in the day, but now, not so much. I got World Heroes for Genesis when it was still fairly new. It was a piece of garbage, and it was just one more reason for all the kids with Super Nintendos to rip on my Genesis, but I liked it anyway. Now, I just think it's a piece of garbage. My favorite was World Heroes 2 Jet in the arcades. I haven't seen it in years, and I don't think I want to, for fear of ruining good memories.
ubersaurus #14 Posted August 2, 2008 My friends and I have been playing World Heroes Perfect lately. The game has a surprising amount of depth! It's odd. Every character has stuff that is completely retarded and broken, and as such balances out the game. Sort of like Xmen vs Street Fighter, or Marvel vs Capcom 2. Aside from that it's a pretty damn good old school fighter with some twists that you didn't see again until more modern games. Can't speak on the other three, but Perfect is worth the time to look into it. No wonder it has a small resurgence in the fighting game community. Hi guys: Yeah, & World Heroes Perfect is quite expensive these days for the Neo-Geo AES console too. Nice game. Anthony....
Jess Ragan #16 Posted August 2, 2008 The Saturn version makes a pretty good substitute. The game's got incredibly fast access times... it takes maybe four seconds before a match begins, which is so short that you barely notice it. Only Capcom's 4M enhanced fighting games and Fighter's History Dynamite load faster!

Ryanw #21 Posted August 4, 2008 I have two World Heroes games on the SNES and both were a lot of fun to play when I first got them. I haven't tried them out in years though but from what I remember it was a nice change of pace to the other fighting games I had like Mortal Kombat and Killer Instinct.
