ATARIPITBULL #2 Posted July 31, 2008 If your asking if I would buy one, then the answer is HELL YES !!!!!!!!! I think it looks great and I would love to be able to play Atari any place I go and if you see a cart in the wild you can now check to see if it plays before you pay. Elw00d #4 Posted July 31, 2008 I have my parts to make one. I am waiting for Chimera to come out before I start hacking away. I also have a stupid idea of trying to incorporate an AtariVox. We'll see. El

Elw00d #6 Posted July 31, 2008 I think it is one of Ben Heckendorms (sp?) VCSp's. I think he still sells VCSp's but he has a new version and good luck getting in line. He has a lot of Mod projects he does.

Richard H. #8 Posted August 1, 2008 I also have a stupid idea of trying to incorporate an AtariVox. Nothing stupid about that AAMOI the Speakjet chip can now be obtained in surface mount (20 Pin SOIC), so the whole AVox circuit could be made very small, if you get short of space. godzillajoe #11 Posted August 1, 2008 I think I ordered one years ago but then never received a mail telling me it was done. Or I switched e-mails and he couldn't contact me. Now make a 7800 version and I'm there. CC2 and portable 7800 would be sweet.
Elw00d #12 Posted August 1, 2008 Ben has made a 7800 portable. It is a bit big for a portable, but I wouldn't complain if I owned it. I am guessing it is the size of a standard textbook. There are pictures of it on his site. El I think I ordered one years ago but then never received a mail telling me it was done. Or I switched e-mails and he couldn't contact me. slosu #13 Posted August 3, 2008 and if you see a cart in the wild you can now check to see if it plays before you pay. It would be worth it to buy one for that reason alone!!! I'd have it with me everywhere I go.

rockman_x_2002 #16 Posted August 3, 2008 (edited) Now make a 7800 version and I'm there. CC2 and portable 7800 would be sweet. Actually, if I knew anything about building such as these (alas I am but a programmer), I think I would try to approach a design that somehow incorporated the CC2 technology and a built-in POKEY chip inside the unit itself. That way, it might possibly allow you to cut down the form factor of the unit just a little, and you wouldn't have to lug around even a single cartridge. Just a memory card to fit the unit, which contained all the hardware necessary to run any 2600 or 7800 game you wanted. Expensive to do? Probably. But a seamless machine once finished? You betcha. Edit: I see a lot of folks would like the idea of carrying these shopping. So perhaps add an adaptor that would still allow you to connect a 2600 or 7800 cart to bypass the CC2 software while a cart's plugged in.
