slosu #1 Posted August 4, 2008 Was Haunted House ever released for any of the home systems? I know there are many pinball compilations out there and was wondering if HH was on any of them. I know HH was on one released for PC but what about Xbox, Playstation or Nintendo?
arcadebasement #2 Posted August 5, 2008 (edited) Have you tried pinMame? It's utterly incredible with almost every table ever made - easy to use emulator in 3D. Unfortunately, they're undergoing reconstruction at the moment - but the table list can be seen in google's cache. http://74.125.45.104/search?q=cache:cbmSNf...;cd=1&gl=us CHeck out the forums for pinmame downloads http://www.vpforums.com/modules/Jig/index.php They definitely have emu'd Haunted House. Hopefully the table roms will be back up soon. [edit] shoot - just saw you wanted it for consoles. Sorry - can't help. Its funny how many people always remember Gotlieb's Haunted House one of the fabulous System 80 series.I guess it was a memorable cabinet with its three playfields spooky artwork and creepy music. Pinmame is good but the decals are very small and hard to see at times which makes it fall somewhat short of the actual experience. In my opinion.there is no replacement.for the actual experience of playing the actual machine.A combined horizontal and vertical plasma screen setup would no doubt improve Pinmame. Oh I agree 100%. But pinMame is really good for trying out pins before purchase that you would otherwise not have access to. I wanted another pin and several were from a local guy at great prices - Tales from the Crypt, Shaq and Starship Troopers were the three he had recently. I fired up pinMame and played the hell of the Crypt and ST (I ruled out shaq just because I'm not a fan of basketball). Thanks to pinMame I discovered the v/o for Crypt became really annoying very quickly and so turned my attention to ST and felt it was a great pin. So ultimately I now have a near mint Starship troopers in my arcade which I wouldn't have gone for had I not been able to 'play' it first, albeit emulated. mrfixx #5 Posted August 17, 2008 Pinmame isnt that great for "trying before buying" pins. I have 20 pinball machines and have played most of the pinmame "recreations" and found that most of them dont play even close to the original. The main reason for this is that the people who create these tables dont have access to the original games to compare them to. I do own a Haunted House and its a great game. For the most part, its not easy to keep running. System 80's werent known for thier reliability. Fixx

That's what I was thinking Each table has it's own ball movement dynamics Pinmame's ball movement seems to be very similar to each other on each table. It's not bad fun but you can't beat the real Mc Coy. slampam #7 Posted September 7, 2008 The MS sample version of this is Awful! The pinball acts like a super ball bouncing around. Thank god for VPinMAME!!!
yuppicide #8 Posted September 8, 2008 The actual arcade game had problems though. When the ball shot up from the basement to the attic or something. That kept breaking. A lot of owners got rid of their machines, so not many exist. That's what I hear. I used to want one because it looks cool as hell. I contacted someone who locates pins (this was many years ago.. maybe around when eBay first started and was really slow due to server overload). The guy I contacted said he could get me one but I wouldn't be happy with it because of that.
+Random Terrain #9 Posted February 18, 2009 Some time has gone by. Any chance this game will come out in a collection for the Xbox 360 or some other console? I really want to play this on a console. It was one of my favorite pinball games at the arcade, but I only got to play it a few times.

I disagree, yeah the physics our not there as fars as movement but at the same token you going to get the playfileld idea as well as the sounds of the game, So yeah the feel is not there but the idea of the pin is. I own 7 machines all and all of them were pretty much spot on with a few minor exceptions....

rxd #12 Posted February 24, 2009 I forgot if you guys loved Haunted House, you gotta try Krull and my favorite Spirit! Are you recommending these tables via Visual PinMame? I've never even heard of these tables, but Haunted House is my favorite pinball machine (with Black Knight a close second) of all time. Both Haunted House and Black Knight are excellent via Visual PinMame...
