llabnip #3 Posted August 24, 2002 [snip large list of game finds] I found each of these for 99 cents each. Forgive my language but Gosh Jimmeny Darnit!!! My wife and I went out scouring the landscape for yard sales and thrift stores today. Four hours of exploring - 2 thrifts and about a dozen yard sales and not a single atari or video game related item! Well, not quite true - one thrift had a SMS D-Pad which I've read is pin-compatible with the Atari. It was in beautiful shape - got it for $2 (two bucks! thrift stores ain't as cheap as they used to be) and it works great. Some games handle great with the d-pad (StarMaster is great with the d-pad). Anyway, in five weekends of searching now, I've found 3 carts! Thank goodness for ebay - my collection would be pretty thin otherwise!
joshk #4 Posted August 24, 2002 NES $.75 Each Final Fantasy Tiny Toons Gotcha Super Team Sports $.89 Boxed 32x $3.
IceCold #5 Posted August 24, 2002 I know this isn't atari, but out of ONE yard sale that was 2 houses up from me(didn't get the chance to go looking everywhere today) I got a boxed Commodore 64 with a boxed disk drive and a boxed cassette drive, all for $2 total. All the stuff appears to be in great condition. The cassette drive box has a little water damage, but the other boxes are in pretty good condition. llabnip #14 Posted August 26, 2002 at work found a wizard of wor /yars revenge / and a sears demons to diamonds / not to bad Dang! Another day and still nothing. Wait! I did actually find a Frostbite Cart in my mailbox yestareday!!! Oh wait... I bought that last week. Well, it's better than nothing! What the Atari community needs is the equivilent of an Elmer system! They have such a system for Ham Radio (a dying hobby unfortuantley). This is where an experienced Ameatur Radio Operator and a new radio op communicate to share knowledge and help get them started (usually by donating some common test and radio equipment that they have accumulated over the years in an effort to promote and grow the hobby and start someone off on the right foot -- and/or they keep an eye out for things the newbie might need at flea markets, trade shows etc). People who want to volunteer as Ham elmers make it known (through local radio clubs, etc) and interested new people are usually on a list and the elmer takes on one person to help. Ok, it's a silly idea for the Atari community, but if it happens I'm hoping the guy with more than 1000 carts picks me!

benjam138 #18 Posted August 28, 2002 Saturday & Sunday were spent on going to many a Thrift Shop, Yard Sale, and Pawn Shops and I only snagged 5 Sega Master System Games. Kinda sucks they were all sports games (Great: Golf, Football, Basketball, Soccer) w/ the exception of Monopoly. I saw a Jag for 39.95 at a pawn shop with Cybermorph and saw a 5200 for $79.95 with 1 controller, all hookups, but no games. I thought $79.95 was a little steep. But I did come home to a ColecoVision Emulator for my Dreamcast. Whoo-hoo!
