WTF: Boing Ball Demo

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a copy of the Boing Ball demo to run on a Mega ST4. I'm doing a comparison demonstration between the Amiga, C64, and ST and wanted to run this as it exists on all 3 platforms.

TIA!

I discussed this demo with R.J. Mical when he visited Finland. He was quite proud of the color lookup trick with the palette for achieving the rotation of the ball. I believe this demo exists also for Atari Lynx.

Hey if you are going to compare against the C64 version there is also one on the 8bit Atari :)

Ball Demo:

Also along the same lines checkout FujiBoink! (for the atari 8 bit)

Thanks! This is the one! Thanks for the 8 bit version as well!

I had originally planned on using my 800XL in the display as well, but this was the only thing I found reference to that was on all 4 platforms. Are there any games or other demos that could work?

Right now, my plan is to use the Boing demo, Defender of the Crown, and Maniac Mansion on the 3 computers as well as running the 2 games on a NES system. If I can come up with something that will cover the 8 bit as well I'd prefer to use that over the NES.

A game that is available on all four of those machines is Gauntlet. Well almost Gauntlet 1 was programmed before the A500 was launched so only the super expensive A1000 was around and we didn't get Gauntlet 1. You could run Gauntlet 2 on Amiga and ST side by side AND then run Gauntlet 1 on C64 and Atari 8bit together.

Gameplay is the same, it's just that Gauntlet 2 on the ST is cack compared to Gauntlet 1 and the Amiga version is a shitty port with no changes except what was needed to compile the source on Amiga compiler
