hbomb #2 Posted August 5, 2008 I looked at some of these reviews, and although I'm not opposed to retro reviews, it really doesn't seem like the reviewer has any historical experience with any of these games. The reviews are very bland, say almost the same thing, and don't really mention anything about the artwork or designers of the games themselves. In regard to gameplay, it was said a few times basically that the game sucked and not worth anything more than being a part of history. This may be true about the game play of that particular game, but personally, I think that every game had some kind of redeeming feature. Take Jawbreaker for example. I definitely preferred the pac man game play, but I thought that the artwork for many of Tigervision's games to be leaps and bounds over the typical Atari box. Wasn't it the packaging that drew us to a lot of these games in the first place?
Rom Hunter #3 Posted August 5, 2008 (edited) Jawbreaker: meh packaging? I don't think so. Edited August 5, 2008 by Rom Hunter
Mirage #4 Posted August 5, 2008 And with all the great 2600 games, why would they choose to review 2 out of 3 that they felt were bad? Wouldn't it be more productive to draw attention to some gems? And yeah, what's wrong with the Jawbreaker packaging? Nothing!
+RangerG #5 Posted August 5, 2008 I agree - Jawbreaker is one of the best looking carts and boxes. Also, I don't consider it a clone of Pacman as much an adaption of the theme or maybe a derivative game.

Wouldn't it be more productive to draw attention to some gems? And yeah, what's wrong with the Jawbreaker packaging? Nothing! To be fair, they didn't say Threshold was a bad game, merely that there were much better games for the 2600 in the same genre.
Godzilla #7 Posted August 7, 2008 Jawbreaker is one my all time 2600 faves, and in its genre, I really like threshold. Not the best out there, but I still enjoy it.
+Omegamatrix #8 Posted August 8, 2008 Jawbreaker is one of the best for the 2600. The graphics are more like a 7 then a 5.
vintagegamecrazy #9 Posted August 9, 2008 I liked Threshold, it wasn't new at the time but the trippy colors were neat and the game play was pretty frantic and challenging.
Jess Ragan #10 Posted August 9, 2008 I think it's supposed to be a Tigervision-themed set of reviews, which is admittedly a pretty strange choice for a theme. I would have went with something a little less esoteric, or for that matter, crappy.
