MOVE IF NEEDED-GIRL "BRAGGING" ABOUT HER "COLLECTION"...

Recommended Posts

Cutting down on her and other new folks are kind of why I thought this place was filled with nothing but jerks until recently. Honestly I avoided this place like the plague for years...

oh, come on people. She seems nice, but she's new. And new people don't necessarily need 'violent correction' when they're wrong, rather they just need to stick around for a while until they figure everything out and their collection won't fit on a rug anymore. None of were born experts, and a lot of folks (me for example) weren't around when some of those games were new. There's a learning curve involved, but there's interest shown. I mean seriously is there any need for:

Attractive doesnt come to mind. more like FUGLY.
I hate Idiots.....
Killing stupid people should be legal.

and those are just in this thread. What's in youtube is far worse.

I have to say, that when I first came here, I really got exactly the same vibe.

The problem is multi fold:

She has a bunch of videos up, including the "Angry Video Game Girl" based on the Angry Video Game Nerd series. So the whole noob thing kinda has a question mark in my mind.

Then the fact that in her bragging video, she turned off and deleted the comments because she didn't like the replies she was getting. Which leads into 2 other points.

1: If you don't want public comments, don't do things publicly.

2: Not knowing any better is one thing, choosing to not know any better is another.

Given what I've seen, it seems to me she's just looking for attention. That makes me wary.

1: If you don't want public comments, don't do things publicly.

On the other hand (and this doesn't necessarily apply to the video in question), if you don't want a bunch of pointless and/or immature remarks about your video tainting the page it's on, don't activate comments. Nothing wrong with that.

Word. If the Internet proves anything, it's that there's always someone dumber and more vile than you think.

Disabling comments or ratings is similar to companies not letting us embed their videos. It takes away something that made YouTube cooler than TV. You don't have to reply to the comments you don't like. It makes you look like a big baby when you disable comments or ratings. When you disable the cool stuff, a cute little kitten dies somewhere in the world. Please don't kill the kittens.

I've only learned one thing from comments on YouTube: Survivor had two different vocalists . Other than that, I have not read anything that has made my YouTube experience any richer. I'm not saying do away with the comments. I like the feature. I also like the option of not having to use them. Having a choice is good.

So is she more or less attractive than the male collectors round here? Just sayin...

I dunno what motivates people to make those clips in the first place but sometimes I get the feeling all of them are trying to be stupid enough to be the next big thing.

You cats are pathetic. You remind me of Trekkies. You surely have better things to do than using up your time by talking shit about a stranger; move out of your parents' basements and see the world. Judging people according to how much knowledge they have about obsolete old toys is right at the top of the "Pitiful" list.

Yep, it's better to judge people according to how much knowledge they have about music or books or movies or history or science. People are going to judge you no matter what the subject is or how much of the world they have explored. That's what people do best. We're smart, they're stupid. Isn't it great that we're us and not them?

Judging someone about the amount of trivia in his head on any topic, especially when (s)he's not around for self-defense, strikes me as superficial and irrelevant to achievement in all cases. (I know I'm biting on your sarcasm-bait, but sometimes, it's fun, ya bastard. :))

Right-on. That's wat I'm sayin' yo. :) Really; who cares how much she knows about Atari - she likes Atari right!? so that's all that matters.

It's so easy to talk smack about others huh?, makes you feel good about yourself? - Mr. Greenday and Artlover.

There are several different psychological tests of intelligence (at least five) and many many areas of expertise. If you first learn to listen and pay attention, then you can learn something from everyone you meet.

You mean the same way that you are judging me right now? I was never judging anybody I was making observations. If somebody is going to make a video about anything they should know at least the basic facts about what they are talking about. If they don't then that is how people get misinformed. I would have left her a very respectful comment to her stating her misinformation but she locked the comments. If you don't like my opinions then I don't realy give a shit but don't come on here acting all high and mighty calling me a Trekkie that lives in his parents basement. I'm sorry if you don't like to hear the facts for what they are.

Because TV has told us for years that only creepy nerds do that and TV is never wrong. Get with the program. Turn off your brain and let TV do the thinking for you. :D

Or just let Chris++ do the thinking for you. Apparently he is good at that.

I wish I lived in a basement...so much cooler during the summer months. :rolling:

I think that people are getting a bit too bent out of shape over one person's lack of homework, and then apparent lack of wanting to not take a comment contrary to her suppositions.

Seriously, the information is out there, and free as a general rule. Many of those "rare" games rate as an R1 or R2.

Though I take a calmer approach... I think it is more fun to spread the hobby around, and exert influence, but I try to get the best information I can in regards to rarity before I open my mouth, and I am ok with admitting if I goof up.

Oh, I see....teenagers.

Well, pay attention, kiddies: Talking shit about everybody who's "wrong on the Internet" has nothing to do with "facts." It's just wasting your time to create antagonism out of thin air -- and, if you're really so concerned about this, it makes you come off dumber than the person you're insulting, since you can't find something of your own to do, instead of putting down people who bother doing things.

And no, there's nothing wrong with living in a basement. Grow a sense of humor; you'll enjoy life more.

(I can't even get to YouTube; but if you're really shocked at finding something that strikes you as stupid on that website, you haven't been there very often. Good for you. Do something creative.)

That's cranky? Damn, I'm almost flattered. :) I guess it depends on how sensitive you are.

Cranky Chris. Arrrrrrr. (Stomping around)

Nah, I just can't see it. Wouldn't work.

You don't want to be a pirate? Captain Cranky Chris? Chris the Cranky Captain? Cranky ol' Cap'n Chris?

This bitching and booing about this girl is pretty silly though. Maybe you people should have commented to the video on youtube *politely* pointing out links to such places as the digital press online rarity guide, or perhaps a place where she could pick up a copy of Video Game Colector like J2games... a magazine that features a rarity guide in every issue.

Furthermore, what's wrong with being a Trekkie? It takes a lot of skill to be able to discuss Klingon politics for hours on end. Granted, it's not the kind of skill you can put on your resume, but I'm damn proud of it!

Yeah, okay, that's pretty cool. I might even have to change my handle (ahem..."Log-In I.D.") to The Cranky Old Pirate, just to warn new people.
