3rd party versions of classic hardware you’ve owned or seen

Recommended Posts

3rd party versions (official, unofficial or hacks) of classic hardware you’ve owned or seen

(By seen, I mean seen up close and personal…in the flesh….. if you’ve only seen it on TV, video or photo’s it doesn’t count)

Here’s mine

Seen….Sega Nomad (assuming NTSC version as I don’t recall Sega releasing a version for euroland/uk)…basically a potted/portable version of the Sega megadrive/genesis

Seen…Micromedia’s official UK/Euro version of the PC Engine (released with N E C’s blessing so I’m told)

Seen…3rd party version of Nintendo’s Famicom (8bit NES)…I think it might have been the Dendy

Seen...Rana Disk Drive (a popular US 3rd party A8 compatible Disk Drive)

Owned…Indus GT Disk Drive (another popular US 3rd party A8 compatible Disk Drive)

Owned …Phonemark 3rd party A8 compatible Cassette drive (It was a cross betw. A 1010 and xc11, didn’t last long)

Any more for any more

I have a Columbia Home Arcade system which was really a Coleco Gemini game system which was a mail-order only system through Columbia House which was a "clone" of the Atari 2600.

Does that count as third party hardware?

I guess it does, as it was based on the coleco gemini which was based on the expansion module 1, which is basically a 2600 in a different box

Oh man....

Retro Duo

FC Twin

Micro Genius

FC Mobile

Power Joy

Power JoyIII

-These are all NES/Famicom clones, for some reason, I seem to have fun with these things. I really like the retro Duo, and I haven't really had any issues with the FC Twin either.

Sharp Twin Famicom

-This is a licensed piece of gear... houses the Famicom, and the Famicom Disk System. I've even got the box and styrofoam insterts for this one. No, it is not for sale.

Does a Sears heavy sixer 2600 version count as a 3rd party?

I have seen the Generation NEX, the Yobo Neo Fami (both NES, and Famiom versions), the Gen-X Genesis clone).

I know that Radio Shack had a version of the Intellivision, Sears did too. I've only seen photos of these, since I always ended up getting outbid. :P
