I saved a Jaguar for my birthday

I just recieved a Jaguar in the mail from eBay today. It was one of the "non-working for parts" auctions, for $9.99+$9.99 S&H. As I suspected, it was the common "regulator failure"-to put it simply, problem where at some point a non-Jag powerpack with a reverse polarity or wrong V&A was used and burned out a couple chips on the power regulator circuit. I had this common problem with another Jag a year or two ago. The procedure to repair this was a sticky post either at the top in this forum or in JS2 for a while, though it doesn't seem to be there anymore (why not leave them permanently?).

Anyway, I had the right replacement chips on hand becuase I ordered extras for just such a possible purchase when I repaired the other Jag. Sure enough, the Jag I just got was broken the same way. So half an hour later, I have a second working Jag again, and another Jag saved from oblivion. Just in time for some Jaglink Doom for my birthday tomorrow.

I have two that I keep meaning to get around to bringing back. One has been dead for about 2 or 3 years and another has probably been dead for close to a decade. If my main unit was fried then I think it would become more of a priority. I don't have great soldering skills though so it is something I keep putting off.
