jbanes #1 Posted August 15, 2008 I'm not sure why everyone is making a big deal out of July numbers (probably because June was a watershed event with the Wii taking the lead in NA), but NPD has released the numbers for July. Long story short, the Wii accounted for 49% of the console sales for that month. http://www.wiimedia.com/news/view/july_ndp...ll_in_the_lead/ Make of it what you will. 128bytes #2 Posted August 15, 2008 It will be interesting to see whether adequate supplies of Wii consoles (they are finally easy to get) will translate into increased sales or decreased momentum - after all, it's easier in many people's minds to make an impulse purchase of something that is desirable, never on sale, and hard to get. I think the Wii will sell even better the closer to Xmas we get. The Wii and Wii Fit are going to be big sellers this holiday season I think, in spite of it being released many months ago. If MS drops the price of the 360 next month and releases the Jasper 360's I think it will help them stay on top of the PS3, I dont see them over taking the Wii though even with the releases of GoW2. Too many non-traditional gamers (moms and gramma's) wanting to get the Wii.
Atari5200 #4 Posted August 17, 2008 Nintendo has already said there will be shortages again, which in my mind is total BS for a company of their size.

Shawn #7 Posted August 18, 2008 Wii's are in stores here, just picked up 2 to resell for Christmas. You're one of THOSE guys! :-) If the Wii is this in the same demand online this Xmas as it was last year I'd almost flip a couple Wii's myself cause at this point there is no reason not to be able to find one locally if you want one. It's more the buyers paying for convience (AKA the height of lazy lazy) of not hunting down the console themselves and they deserve to pay double retail.
