Christophero Sly #1 Posted August 19, 2008 Looking for a Model 1 Genesis with the EXT port and "High Definition Graphics" printed on the lip around the cartridge port. Just need the console, PSU, and AV cable. No controllers or games.
Waterborn #2 Posted August 19, 2008 I have a model I Genny that says "16-bit" in red under the cart slot. I would have to look at it with regards to the "high definition" part. I will check when I get home and let you know.
Christophero Sly #3 Posted August 19, 2008 I guess I'd better add that I'm sort of bargain hunting here. I know I've heard a few individuals here complain that they can't give away Gennys (I think someone recently threw a few away), so I thought, perhaps, someone would be willing to hook me up for $20 shipped, and we'd both be doing each other a favor. Of course, I don't know much about the Genesis market, so if my perceptions are wrong, someone please tell me before I end up insulting someone unintentionally. the.golden.ax #4 Posted August 20, 2008 (edited) Parted out a Genesis 1 deck with ext. port is usually around $10 ish for the console only, power cords can fetch around $5, the A/V cables are in the $7 - 8 area because they work on many other systems including neo geo. Controllers are pretty much worthless $1 - $2. Genesis 2 units are far less, generally in the $5 deck price range. The RFU for Genesis 1 is an easily replaced item because it's able to be a standard generic for $2 - $4. The a/v really pumps the cost up on what your looking for by a good amount ($5ish). With Genesis 2, the video cords are a little more than a Gen1 RFU's because they only work on Gen2, and were harder to find for a while, but still no where near the cost of a Gen1 a/v video cords. nathanallan #5 Posted August 20, 2008 Ax, all true, when you mean the people who like Genesis stuff. I do, so the prices are right on. A lot of other times people *do* give it away cause they're just not into it. Good luck finding a Model 1. I'll go the the flea market and see if that guy whom I got one from still has the other. I think he wanted $10.
Waterborn #6 Posted August 20, 2008 I just checked my Gen I and it does not have anything about "high def graphix" on it, just the red 16-Bit. Let me know if you are interested in this one. I had to buy the AV cable ($7 at a flea market) to complete the system, so I would want to do something like $25 shipped (depending on where you are) to keep from losing $ on it. Of course, I am always up for some kind of trade. Can NEVER have too much stuff ya know.

nathanallan #8 Posted August 20, 2008 Just checked, and both of the Model 1's here have the High Definition Graphics printed around the rim. I didn't realise there was a console released that didn't. Was there a technical difference? Ports? The ext wasn't there? Nathan

Nathan Wait, you have a console that has the HDG printed around the rim, but has no EXT port?
the.golden.ax #10 Posted August 20, 2008 I have them both ways personally. With a port and without, with the phrase on the portless, and without the phrase. All the ones with the port do have the phrase (Altered Beast systems), but the '91 sonic system still said it before the price drop from $149.99 to $129.99 MSRP in '92. nathanallan #12 Posted August 21, 2008 No, they're the same, just asking the question. There is one difference, but only on the label. One is made in China andthe other Taiwan. But that's the only difference (from the outside, haven't compared guts with covers off). Genesis stuff is fun to collect for! There's so many combinations you can do! I love it!!
