Atari game into a movie?

Recommended Posts

Just reading some reviews for the remake of Death Race 2000 and thought how cool it would be if there was a movie made out of BattleWheels for Lynx...

What about other exclusive Atari games?

Asteroids - Space miners in the Sol system's asteroid belt encounter alien life that threatens to enslave humanity. Problem is... They're inside the rocks themselves and must all be blasted!

Battlezone - Easy. Robot Tanks (har har) go berzerk and only one man has the chutzpah to go in to destroy the central core.

Crystal Castles - Would have to be a CGI cartoon. Bentley Bear goes on a fanciful adventure to find enough gems to save Crystal Land from the evil witch. He encounters skeletons, weird tree creatures, and the witch herself! Naturally he meets lots of new friends along the way.

How about some others? And which of all the Atari games do you think would make the best movie?

Dude, Yar's Revenge?! That would be the coolest movie EVAR! They could even get Jack Tramiel to come in and fuck things up towards the end. You know, for realism.

Are you looking for serious answers or extremely silly ones? And this is NOT a "yes or no" question!

How about Berzerk or Sonic the Hedgehog.

BTW, I would like to remind everyone; Death Race 2000 is a remake of the original 1975 movie - The Exidy video game Death Race was inspired by that movie and came out in 1976. Just afraid someone might assume you were suggesting DR2k was based on the video game. :P

A movie spin-off of a computer game. So, when did that last give a decent movie? :)

I guess my vote will have to go to the Alternate Reality. But I bet it's going to be a musical-movie, because most of us would want to sing along. We'll ask Peter Jackson to do it, he's OK with the fantasy stuff.

Keystone Kapers!! You could have Tom Hanks chasing after Leonardo Di Caprio across the Southwick Emporium!

No wait, that's already been done... :(

Swordquest, easily.

They could say it'll be a four-movie series...but at the end of the third, show that the sword-maguffin has been transported to modern Earth...and is in the hands of Jack Tramiel.

Another idea....The History of Atari from a staffers/employee's viewpoint

If you haven't already seen it check out "Once Upon Atari" by HSW, or is that HSWWSH??? Highly recommended.

Pong: A rising tennis star is brought to the ultimate challenge on Paddle Court Eternal, a crowdless and dark place where the best are chosen.

Adventure: A nameless knight is brought to another dimension for his trial in the depths of Dragon Valley. There, his survival, proved through the acquisition of the Chalice Of Ethereal Forgiveness, will be the key to his liberation.

How about a movie based on "Cosmic Ark" and "Atlantis"...

A movie with a guaranteed sequel!?! Hollywood's already on it as we speak :)

"Fun With Numbers: Sudden Death"

A math wiz from Cal-Tech has just 90 minutes to endure the Fun With NUmbers Atari cart, or else the terrorists kill his family.
