+atari2600land #1 Posted August 25, 2008 (edited) Having made GoSub with Atari BASIC, I'm trying my hand in Oric BASIC. It's a lot different, as there doesn't seem to be a very easy way to make sprites, so "=" is the sub, "M" is the octopus, and "-" is the walls. You *do* have an Oric emulator, right? Download here. +atari2600land #5 Posted August 29, 2008 Major update: now instead of letters, the sub, octopus, and treasure look more like a sub, octopus and treasure!
+atari2600land #6 Posted August 18, 2010 Major necroposting here, but I just started back into programming for the Oric again after two years. I've added some actual coral and fixed a few bugs while I was at it. You can download it here. So, what do you think?

newcoleco #9 Posted August 18, 2010 That's interesting. I've a book with listings of games in BASIC for the Oric computer... but I've never own an Oric computer. I've used these listings for testing purpose by porting them in C language based on ColecoVision capabilities to test my devkit in evolution back then for various optimisations purpose. With these small simple games, I've made CV Gamepack#1, but only owners of the same book for Oric computer can really appreciate the result, because the reaction from the fans was that I should make big hits again for the ColecoVision... not knowing why I did that project in the first place, which is sad. Well, keep going with this project, it looks like you've a lot of fun!
+atari2600land #10 Posted August 18, 2010 I don't have an Oric myself, I'm doing this via the Euphoric emulator. I think it'd be cool to actually own one, but I've read they weren't available here in the U.S.
youki #11 Posted August 19, 2010 They can be mainly found in England and France. It was en English Brand and then bought by a France Company. There are 3 models , i think, that have been officially released. 1 Oric 1 2 Oric Atmos 3 Telestrat (also known as Stratos) . The Telestrat had Teletext feature and could be used a Teletext server. The most commun is the Atmos. That's a very charming computer with same really good game in fact. Very funny to program , with a pretty good Basic and really good to learn 6502 assembleur. there are no sprites , but you can redifine charset and to very nice thing. One game has been released recently for that machine, based on TV show : Cosmos 99 (Space 99). here the intro of the game : Here a demo of the game play : I love that machine. I own one Oric 1 and few Atmos . Unfornully no telestrat. If you want buy one, target the Atmos. easier to find , and keyboard is lot better than oric 1 .
