Atari2600Lives #4 Posted August 28, 2002 It's real, real nice...but the bidding has gotten completely out of control on this item. In the last few weeks I saw another Quadrun go for considerably less (granted it was not as complete as this). I imagine that patch is really adding to the value of the auction. Lemmi #5 Posted August 28, 2002 and Not to mention the Atari magazines as well might be adding to this auction too, this auction is like a one stop shopping store, you get a bunch of neat items in one place
Eduardo #6 Posted August 28, 2002 Quadrun heaven.
SS #7 Posted August 28, 2002 I almost think that he should have done the patch as a separate auction. How much do you think that the patch alone would have gone for? I'll bet that there are quite a few hard-core collectors who already have a boxed Quadrun who would have paid handsomely for the patch. Of course, the possibility is that the high bidders might be trying to get the patch alone with the expectation of selling the game later to recoupe some of the cost of the auction. Just fantasizing but, really, fantasy is about as close as I can get to a Quadrun cart right now!

ATARIPITBULL #9 Posted August 28, 2002 That's way too much money for me to try to take away from anyone!!!!!!!!
Atari2600Lives #10 Posted August 28, 2002 After re reading the auction I think I know why it went for so much money. It does seem to have an interesting story as this guy won the masters championship that Atari sponsored back in the day for the game. The cart being sold was the one used. Also the patch (if the game is rare) has to be SUPER rare. He might have gotten $450 for the game and $450 for the patch if he split up the auction....who knows... Marco(2) #11 Posted August 28, 2002 Heh, I think Matt realized how shitty collecting C64 actually is and now wants to be part of the real thing Cheers, Marco
Mayhem #12 Posted August 28, 2002 Hah hah Actually, I came back from Vegas (CGE) not knowing if I'd still have a job here. Seems like I do for now thankfully. So I can spend a bit heh. As I said, it's all about spreading out now. I've gotten just about everything for the C64, so let's move onto other systems. Next step... getting it to someone in the US if he definitely won't ship abroad!
Cybertom #13 Posted August 28, 2002 Hi Guys, look at this : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=1372324089 I think this price was quite good and it was also complete in the Box and in absoultely great shape I think the 935$ are too much for this thing but it's only a matter of time and you'll see the next one on Ebay ( i think i have seen a complete boxed quadrun for about 10 times on ebay the last 2 years ) greetings Tom

Mayhem #16 Posted August 28, 2002 Yes Cybertom... but this auction also had 9 of the 11 issues of Atari Age (value approaching $100) and a probably ultra rare Quadrun patch. That's probably gonna be brought to next year's CGE museum so people can have a look at it. Aren't I nice Actually the seller will ship to the UK so hopefully I'll get the items next week sometime...!

cx2k #18 Posted August 28, 2002 correct me if i'm wrong but did they not have all 3 patches in the museum this year as well as last year? john hardie has all 3! (can't remember the 3 titles though!) The 3 titles are Quadrun, Battlezone, and Gravitar. Sean and I each scored a set of 3 from ebay a few years back for $80. Sean's set is the one that's in the museum each year. Atari Master #21 Posted August 29, 2002 Thats the last straw! Anyone who pays more than $350.00 for a freakin video game no matter how much it's worth! Is a stupid, dumb ass person! I would rather look for years in the wild for one from Ebay at a price like that!
Mayhem #22 Posted August 29, 2002 And thank you for those kind words... ahem! This is the first time I've broken the $350 barrier on a game, so no need to let your blood pressure rise to dangerous levels Also... the better exchange rate at the moment means I'm paying less for it than I would have a few months back... I would rather look for years in the wild for one from Ebay at a price like that! Didn't I already warn you about posting insulting and/or threatening mesages to users here on AtariAge? You do realize that when you post messages like this that the person whom you are refering to has feelings and won't take kindly to what you say? While you're certainly entitled to your opinion, you need to better learn how to express it without directly insulting others. Or you'll soon need to find another venue that will tolerate posts like tihs. ..Al

Chris++ #25 Posted August 29, 2002 Jeez, Atari Master! Bad day? I agree that it's a silly amount of cash to drop for a single game, but we can express these sentiments without insulting anyone. You don't just call people names, man! There's no reason for that, wouldn't you agree? Me and a few guys on here have had friendly disagreements (mainly on this very topic), but I have YET to run into anyone on AA who could possibly be described as a "dumb-ass." Not even close. If folks want to spend that much cash, they're entitled. At least the hobby they've chosen is a cool one! If you want your perspective heard or considered, it's important to respect others' opinions as well, even if they don't match up with yours. That's what friendly conversation is all about.
