A2600 #1 Posted September 15, 2008 I have this crazy idea to put a Game Boy SP into an Original Game Boy Case, I would not need the extra L & R buttons and the only things that would need to be done is relocate the cart slot to where the one for the Original Game Boy is and I think just move the A/C port to where the original game boy has its EXT port, I only want this to play Original GB games I dont care if I lose the GBA compatibility. Here are some pictures of the idea: Id be willing to swindle any generous amount of greens you need for this project and supply you with both the SP and the Game Boy Let Me Know Bryan

SRGilbert #4 Posted September 15, 2008 That is a neat idea for a project. Probably wouldn't be too hard either. Is the screen area big enough to accommodate the SP screen though? The original Gameboy is the only one I don't have!
A2600 #5 Posted September 15, 2008 yes you would use the SP screen along with its screen protector...
the.golden.ax #6 Posted September 15, 2008 Working on this, the first issue I come to is the cartridge slot. The less case modification on the outside the better. This means that larger gameboy color carts would either stick up (but advance carts would not) or the case would need major modification.
the.golden.ax #7 Posted September 15, 2008 After doing several hours work on this, I'd have to say it isn't worth doing for a little money, and the amount of money the job would warrent isn't what the end result would be worth. Does that make sence? AX
Mark Wolfe #8 Posted September 16, 2008 I've been looking our on ebay for the very rare silver backlit original gameboy that came out only in Japan. That would be so cool. hell, I'd pay for a backlit gameboy pocket color. I love the feel of it. the screen sucks ass though.

Do the Carts for the original game boy fit fine? that changes things dramatically since then you don't have to accommodate the GBA carts which is what ax was probably having the most trouble with. hey, I want one of these too!! except I want mine in a gameboy pocket case lol!!
