mark #1 Posted August 29, 2002 just stopped at a goodwill and found the music machine in an 8 track version. is this worth anything?
Chris++ #2 Posted August 29, 2002 You mean the K-Tel album? I got that when it came out! I was 4! I believe it has "Beth" by Kiss on it, as well as "Got To Give It Up" by Marvin Gaye and "Play That Funky Music" by Wild Cherry. Awwww yeah! I'm not sure if it's worth anything. Why did you post here, if I might be so bold? Does it fit into your 2600? Or, more importantly, does it make your 2600 play that funky music when you turn it on?? THEN we'd have something! This would make Airworld look like small potatoes! CF
Inky #3 Posted August 29, 2002 Which Music Machine? There was a Christian album / tape called Music Machine (which my wife has) that the Atari 2600 game is based on..
Chris++ #4 Posted August 29, 2002 What a waste of a ROM.
Inky #5 Posted August 29, 2002 What a waste of a ROM. Why's that?
mark #6 Posted August 29, 2002 i thousht the music machine was some sort of rarity thing as with the 2600 game. i didn't know if there was any relation with the 2600. just cirious, thats all.
Inky #7 Posted August 29, 2002 The one you have is almost definitely the K-Tel thing as I don't think the other one was released on 8-track.
mark #8 Posted August 29, 2002 i don't remember but it was blue. does it make a difference.
Inky #9 Posted August 29, 2002 i don't remember but it was blue. does it make a difference. What does the label look like? I think I remember what they both look like as my sister owned the k-tel one.
mark #10 Posted August 29, 2002 it was dated 1977.
Inky #11 Posted August 29, 2002 it was dated 1977. Definitely the K-Tel one then. I don't think the other one was released until 1980-81 or thereabouts. No relation to the Atari game there.
mark #12 Posted August 29, 2002 alright thanks for your help guys, thought i might have stumbled apon something great. CF, sorry i wasted your precious rom.
Inky #13 Posted August 29, 2002 CF,sorry i wasted your precious rom. I think that was directed at me.
Chris++ #14 Posted August 29, 2002 I didn't direct it at you. You're a great guy! I meant, what a waste to make a Christian ROM. If you're Christian, well, then, insert the name of a different denomination than yours. CF

mvigor #16 Posted August 29, 2002 I'm sure that some creative story writers here could write up fake manuals for many existing games, thus "turning them into" christian titles without so much as hacking the graphics.
mark #17 Posted August 29, 2002 i thought he meant that to me cause i asked an 8 track quection on 2600 forum. it cracks me up when someone misinturpritates what the other person said and it turns out to be a mini quarrel. then everyone makes up in the end. (lol)!!!!!!!!!
Inky #18 Posted August 29, 2002 I'm sure that some creative story writers here could write up fake manuals for many existing games, thus "turning them into" christian titles without so much as hacking the graphics. I'm still toying with hacking the graphics on a game and basing one on the Christian Veggie Tales characters. I was thinking of Crystal Castles, but I put it on hold for a while as I'm so distracted with trying to get my Win2K certification...
Marco(2) #19 Posted August 29, 2002 Off topic: Anyone happen to have the box for Music Machine? It's one of the handful of boxes I'm missing for a complete boxed NTSC collection... Anyone?? Cheers, Marco
CPUWIZ #20 Posted August 29, 2002 Why don't you ask Al where he got the scan from ? I am sure with a wallet your size you could convince almost anyone to sell it.

You know, I found an 8-track the other day that I WISH would fit into my 2600 - it's called "Journey - Escape"... Now THAT would make a helluva game, don't you all think? cvga #23 Posted August 30, 2002 I have the cart, box, instructions, record, book, and a coupon for $1 off (the record I think). I had to pay a hefty sum of $2 but I think it was worth it.
