HERE'S ANOTHER OF MY WACKY THREADS. I'D LIKE TO SEE WHO IS THE KING OF ENDURO IN THIS FORUM. AND WE WILL DETERMINE THIS BY ENTERING YOUR SCORE ON THIS THREAD. NOW FOR THE RULES:

 

1. YOUR SCORE MUST BE YOUR FIRST TRY AT THE GAME AFTER YOU READ THIS.

 

2. TO DETERMINE THE REAL KING YOU CAN'T LIE.

 

THE ONE WITH HIGHEST SCORE ON THEIR FIRST TRY SHALL BE CROWNED KING.

 

MY FIRST TRY I GOT A SCORE OF 7 DAYS 1145 WITH 32 CARS TO GO.

 

IF THIS THREAD IS SUCCESFUL I'D LIKE TO DO MORE SUCH AS PAC MAN,MRS. PACMAN, FROGGER, MEGAMANIA, OR OTHER COMMON CARTS.

 

ALSO, PLEASE DON'T BE NEGATIVE IN ANY WAY IM DOING THIS THREAD FOR FUN.

Your score is near my best ever score for enduro, and i havent played the game in years, i bet i wouldnt get past day one on my first try

Well Enduro is one of my favorites, So what again is the idea of this Enduro king?? I usually try to see how many miles i have in the first 15 minutes to gauge if im doing well or not ...all i can say is that in a 12hr stint of playing you should have around 33,000 miles at 105 days...Happy racing

I know the original poster was not asking for complaints - and I'm really not trying to register one. But I'm not a fan of measuring high scores / best times against other players. Sure, it's interesting to see where you place in the grand scheme of things - but unless you are Todd Rogers (!) then you will likely find that there is someone better than you in any game. In fact, given that there are tons of folks that play and never submit scores to be recognized, it's safe to say that even the recognized high-scores might not be the best there has ever been.

 

But as a shooter fan, I realize that Score/Level is a good benchmark in a game. So while I always play for fun, I do like to work for the best score or best time in a game. I printed up hundreds of generic Score-Sheets which I can write the game name across the top and record date/score in the spaces below. This way I am always working to improve my personal high scores - even when they might be orders of magnitude from someone else's high score. It's fun to see the scores inching up over time in Atlantis (I'm up to 65000 or so) or watching the scores dip in Atari Golf. I recommend everyone keep a notebook or high-score sheet handy to record scores for all the games they play over the years. Comparing them against other player's scores is interesting and fun, but don't worry too much about what the next guy can do... because there is always a next guy that will be better.

Wow, I still havn't filled up the high score section of the pamphlet that was packed in my original Atari box!! :wink: :wink: It is nostalgic to look back at you own long forgotten scores and reminisce.

Mark, I have to laugh - Great idea to start a challenge - Ive done them in the past. In fact Snipercade runs monthly Console of the Month contests on games like this - but 2 weeks from your last game is nothing - put up a challange on a game you've never played without practice (or havent played in a year ) Then we'll have something going!

Bah. I get to Day 7 regularly. Sometimes I screw up and run out of time around day 4 or 5, but almost always I get to Day 7.

 

My goal is to get to day 10. It's got to be possible. The best tip for getting far in Enduro is to pace yourself -- fast enough to pass cars constantly. Don't be afraid to brake, especially when the roadblocks come. You guys that never got to day 5 ... it's NOT that hard. Pace yourself and play for an hour straight, I bet you do it.

IM GOING TO SET A DEADLINE FOR THE SCORES AND THAT WILL BE THIS SUNDAY AT 12PM (TO GIVE YOU ALL PRACTICE YOU NEED). I WILL THEN CROWN 1 PERSON KING AT AROUND THAT TIME.SO START THOSE ENGINES AND GET CRACKING.
