jbanes #1 Posted September 30, 2008 Today's WiiWare release brings the long-anticipated Bomberman Blast to US shores. But it also brings an unexpected new title called Art Style: Orbient. Published by Nintendo, this is the first anyone has heard of it. What is this strange new title? While not much else is known about this game, many commentators have noted that Orbient sounds awfully close to a little-known GBA game called bit Generations Orbital. The bit Generations series is a Japanese-only collection of games released for the Game Boy Advance. These games are fairly simplistic in nature and were primarily released to Club Nintendo members. jerseystyle #2 Posted October 1, 2008 I picked this up off of wii ware last night- what a cool surprise this game was- the game only uses two buttons for all the controls, but it feels so natural, and I got completely sucked in by it- played for three hours, made it to level 11 out of 50. Lots of neat things here, like how every time you get a new sattelite it adds a layer of music- when I got my fourth one, and the keyboards kicked in, I actually grinned. Great stuff, and a very simplistic, old school presentation. I think this is my favorite wii ware game thus far, and well worth the 6 dollars. Kind of reminds me of a stripped down katamari damacy. RJ #3 Posted October 4, 2008 Got it this AM solely on this post/recommendation alone, I wouldve passed it right by otherwise. It's...interesting to say the least, you're not gonna impress anyone w/ it, at least no one who thinks games on this gen of systems cant be as simple as this. My (nongamer) wife took 1 look & said "I've seen better games than this." The online manual seemed long & confusing, & at first I thought man, it cant be THAT simple/fun if these are the instructions! But the ingame guide was better. I had to refer back to the manual a few times as I kinda jumped in & didnt know how to steer- it's all a matter of button use. Once I got going I found it pretty enjoyable. I only made it to lvl 4. Good to know there are lots more lvls. & my wife didnt even tell me to turn it off while I was playing w/ the kids!
boog #4 Posted October 4, 2008 I got this a couple days ago and was really disappointed. It's too simple and too slow-paced for me. The ign review called it relaxing, but I thought it got boring pretty quick.
ComputerSpaceFan #5 Posted October 5, 2008 I played the GBA version, Orbital and loved it. But given I finished the GBA one, I doubt I will pick up the same game again for Wii.
jbanes #6 Posted October 6, 2008 The GBA game is WAY better than the Wii game. The Wii game is much slower paced and the gravity feels more like vacuum cleaners than actual gravity. The Game Boy game is much faster-paced and has you whipping around suns left and right. I recommend it over the WiiWare game. That being said, a lot of people seem to like the WiiWare game. If you're into slower paced games, you may like this one. Otherwise, I'd pass.
RJ #7 Posted October 12, 2008 (edited) I stayed up way too late playing this last night! It's one of those games where you think ohh, just 1 more level, & before you know it, it's 1:45 AM. But this is the mark of a truly addictive & enjoyable game. I got all the way to Lev. 17 until I said I absolutely have to stop playing this. & the music that kicks in when grabbing satellites, each sound adding to & building on the main tune is ABSOLUTELY beautiful- & I dont use that word much!
