majinbuu #1 Posted October 2, 2008 I would like to know which emulator is currently accepted as the best for n64 emulation. Most of the ones I can find are quite old (around 2005) and I was wondering whether there is a more up to date emu? Any help would be great.

ls650 #3 Posted October 2, 2008 How does the $20 version 1.7 compare to the 'free' version 1.6? I tried Version 1.6 and thought it was not bad, but there were definitely a lot of graphics glitches and some slight stuttering, even on a pretty decent PC. majinbuu #4 Posted October 2, 2008 I thought the days of paying for an emu were over. I'm using 1.6 now, seems not too bad. The graphics look a great deal clearer than a real n64. It's weird that the best emu is 3 years old though.
Waterborn #5 Posted October 4, 2008 I second Project 64 as the best emu for the N64 that I could find. I went through several on my modded Xbox before I came across P64. It works great.

ls650 #8 Posted October 26, 2008 Exactly. The whole point of the $20 is to support the developers' costs so that they continue their work. Duh! I've been playing with Project64 1.6 and Mupen64Plus lately. For Windows users, PJ 1.6 runs great with both XP and Vista. I find it emulates well with about 85% of all the ROMs I've tried. If you have a Linux machine, Mupen64Plus is not bad, and works well for 75% of all ROMs.
