Bowser N64 #1 Posted October 2, 2008 (edited) As you may know, I am a very serious Nintendo 64 Super Mario 64 player. I play for world records and what not. I really enjoy it. I also race people for best star times, etc... I often like to hold a race, that I call the Super Mario 64 8-Star Race. It's simple. The rules are, be first to get 8 stars and beat Bowser In the Dark World in the least amount of time possible. I have run through this race on a 120 star file. Once with all doors open and then once with a new game file. I have timed the difference in times with a stopwatch, and have attained the knowledge that the time difference between the total race times with doors open versus closed is about 28 to 30 seconds. Which turned out to be the exact time difference I guessed it would be. I am willing to challenge anybody to the 8 star race. If you have an emulator OR an N64 with Super Mario 64, I will take you on happily. Though I prefer the real game on the N64 console, I take what I can get. I realize that many people do not have N64s anymore. If anyone wants to race me, post so here, or Post Mail(PM) me. I also have an email. Soon after I started racing for times and world records, I realized that it would benefit me greatly to keep track of best times, and to see how they stack up or compare to my previous best times. Anyways, here are my times, which are updated frequently. Thank you. ======================================== ================= 8 Star Race Records ================= 11:23 PM Tuesday, April 01, 2008/ 00:9:37 really 9:33 11:23 PM Tuesday, April 01, 2008/ 00:09:17:69 really 9:14 1:43 PM Wednesday, April 02, 2008/ 00:09:09:93 really 9:05 8 star race = 8:25:12 8 star race = 8:04:11 Wednesday, August 13th, 2008/8 star race = 7:30:85 Wednesday, August 13th, 2008/ 8 star race = 7:23:56 Thursday, August 21, 2008/ 8 Star Race = 7:04:03 Sunday, September 14, 2008/ 8 Star Race = 6:59:44 ================== 17 Star Speedrun Records ================== 17 star speed run = 29:03:53 17 star speedrun ending mark = 25:06:64 ============== Actual Star Marks ============== 8 star mark = 6:35:02 Beat Bowser mark = 8:35:29 ========================================== Edited October 3, 2008 by Bowser N64

Bowser N64 #4 Posted October 4, 2008 What do you mean? I love competing with people. Do YOU want to challenge me? That would be awesome!
kevincal #5 Posted October 4, 2008 Well to be honest, you're probably not going to get many if any people to challenge you BECAUSE... It's obvious you are a Mario 64 expert and probably nobody else at Atari Age besides you has tried this race. I'm sure your time is killer good. I actually might challenge you though. I haven't played Mario 64 in a while, but I am also an expert in it. I bought my N64 on launch day and got all 120 stars in M64. Needless to say I've played it a lot Don't get your hopes up though. I can be extremely lazy and an extreme procrastinator when it comes to such things. Welcome to Atari Age by the way.
Bowser N64 #6 Posted October 4, 2008 Why thank you for that complement! I try really hard to strive for the best times. I really DO hope you get to challenge me and don't put it off. I hardly ever get to race anyone. Thanks again!
Bowser N64 #7 Posted October 5, 2008 My new Game SHark will help me bypass the annoying Peach intro for faster speedruns.
PressureCooker2600 #8 Posted October 5, 2008 I've played Mario 64 too many damn times to remember.....but like kevin, there's no way I'm going to be any competition against those times.

Bowser N64 #10 Posted October 6, 2008 Gameshark really helps to get rid of the annoying Peach intro in a new game. By the way guys I use an 8 or above star file to race with. It help when the doors are already open and all.
