Guitar Hero World Tour Question

Recommended Posts

Okay, so the setlist on Guitar Hero World Tour looks freakin' great.

Here's the deal though.

I don't want to buy all the other crap.

I really don't want to add a giant ass toy drumset to my living room.

I don't think I will convince my wife to sing along, so you can keep the mike too.

While my college days were very fun, my friends no longer come over on a daily basis,

get shit faced and party like we may have back in 1992. This may have been fun then, but these

days, I play video games solo (or online with same friends, though sober.)

So my question is simple.

If I buy the version plain old regular version without the drums, mike, etc., will I still have a swell time

with just my guitar like last time?

Will there still be a carreer mode for just me an my old wireless guitar to battle through on a bunch of difficulty levels?

As I understand it, you should be able to enjoy Guitar Hero World Tour without the extra instruments just the same way you did the earlier Guitar Hero games. Currently, I enjoy Rock Band solo just fine 95% of the time, but on the rare occasion when friends or relatives come over to play, the full band experience really IS quite fun. But I can certainly understand where everyone doesn't want the extra clutter of the drum kit hanging around!

Does it use the same guitar as the older games? I saw one picture of the one coming with it and it looked like it had more buttons higher up on the neck.

There will be a new touchpad on the GH:WT guitars, which can be used for 'sliding' notes. But you can still use your old guitar.

I just bought the standalone version of World Tour last night for my Wii for exactly that reason. I am using the GH III guitar and it works just fine. The only thing with the newest guitar is the touchpad thingy but the reviews I have read have said it's a neat concept but it doesn't work very well. No tactile indication of what notes you are strumming and easy to get lost on harder songs. You can get by without it.

And yes World Tour played alone with a previous model guitar is as enjoyable as the previous games, even more. More songs and you do like a band tour thing where you gain cash for playing different venues and such. More of a single player campaign of sorts.

Yer old GH guitar will work just fine. The extra "slider" buttons dont amount to anything. You can accomplish the same thing by hammering on/off with your old guitar.

WT also actually lets you play career mode as either bass or lead.

I've yet to attempt to use any equipment from rock band on it. But I'm assuming at the very least that the mic will work.
