Stella: Snapshot image too large

I capture a snapshot using F12, but then can't see it in stella. It says "PNG image too large". What am I doing wrong?

Click the "Options" button,

select "Video Settings",

make sure "Fullscreen mode" is not selected

then set "TIA Zoom" to 1

 

This will create png files that are either 320x210 or 320x250 which are the correct size for Stella.

After you've created your snapshots you can readjust the above settings to your liking.

A bit of pain, I know, but this is the only option for now. A future release will resize a PNG when necessary in the viewer, so it won't be necessary to always generate snapshots in 1X mode.

Actually, now that I look again, the screenshots are sized anywhere between 320x210 to 320x260.

 

Is it possible to edit these screenshots? If I try to edit them in Photoshop they become unusable in Stella.

I'm not trying to edit to cheat at hiscores or anything like that, I just thought that I could use Photoshop to batch resize the screenshots but it doesn't work.

The current PNG-loading code is very simplistic, and only works when the image is at most 320x260. Also, it only supports PNGs as generated by Stella itself. Loading and saving through Photoshop probably adds some other stuff to the PNG file that Stella doesn't understand.

 

My suggestion is to wait until a future release, where this will be fixed. Alternatively, you could try something other than Photoshop for the resizing (and if you don't mind, also send me a sample Photoshop PNG that isn't working).

Well, it looks like I spoke too soon, or too late.

I just resized all of my snapshots to 320x210 using Photoshop and they all work fine now.

It didn't work in an earlier version but now it does.
