cbmeeks #1 Posted October 19, 2008 http://www.flickr.com/photos/cbmeeks/sets/72157608150850558/ More pictures coming soon. Tomorrow, I plan on taking the complete unit outside in the natural light and get some better pics. I also plan on uploading a few to Wikipedia. Comments welcomed. -cbmeeks
littleman jack #2 Posted October 19, 2008 Nice pictures. Yours was an early one, made in California. Mine must be later, made overseas. I noticed they both have a hole or chip out of the bottom of the keyboard. Do you know if that was intended to be there, or just broken off? I always figured it was broken off, but maybe not. Are you going to post shots of it put back together as well? Thanks for the pictures.
cbmeeks #3 Posted October 19, 2008 Not quite sure about the hole. I have discovered that mine will not stay running for more than 10 minutes. It locks up. So I need to somehow fix that. I have upload three more pics of it assembled but the lighting is bad. I am going to try and get some natural light this week so that the pics come out much better. I just was tied up the entire day with family chores. http://www.flickr.com/photos/cbmeeks/29552...57608150850558/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/cbmeeks/sets/72157608150850558/
cbmeeks #4 Posted November 8, 2008 More updates. It's cleaned up quite nicely. For all of my Atari 400 pics, go here: My Atari 400 Also, stay tuned...I have ANOTHER Atari 400 is looks really bad but plays nice. I'm going to restore it and post details. But first, I am going to paint and restore my Atari 520 STfm. Comments welcomed!
mimo #5 Posted November 8, 2008 Very nice, did you paint it, or did it just clean up that well? Before you paint you ST, check out this info from the Amiga forums, I am in the process of restoring a 400 and an 800XL using this method, so far the XL looks to be getting a much better colour http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=37808
cbmeeks #6 Posted November 8, 2008 No, just cleaned her up a lot. My other 400 is much worse....so it will be fun to see it take on a better condition. Thanks for the link! I will check that out.
OldSchoolRetroGamer #7 Posted November 8, 2008 Very nice! You know for all the crap I hear about that keyboard, there is just something cool about those versions of the 400, I think it is great that all the computer companies back then were not afraid to experiment! Christos #8 Posted November 8, 2008 Very nice! I agree, it looks quite futuristic. Actually if they experimented with that case they could have made a really cool looking console.
ApolloBoy #9 Posted November 9, 2008 So that's an original 1979 system? Nice, I've actually been thinking about getting a 400 for collecting purposes in addition to an 800.
cbmeeks #10 Posted November 9, 2008 The Atari 400 is a very under-rated system. The keyboard really isn't that bad if you use it as a game machine (ie, pressing the occasional key for menus, typing your name in games, etc). I love the look of it. After I finish my ST restoration, I am going to start on my other 400. The one that actually works! lol (the one pictured works for about 5 minutes then locks up). Thanks!
