AV modding a C64

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking of adding AV jacks and an S-video jack to my C64 so I don't have have to use RF or buy an expensive monitor cable. Now my question is, is it possible to tap the composite and chroma/luma signals from the monitor port? My VIC-20 was modded with composite in the same way, so I was wondering if it could be done with the C64.

Yes.

What's expensive about the monitor cable? The same cable is for the Atari 800XL, TI 99-4/A, and a few others that I can't think of. They're plentiful and ~$5 on eScrew.

I'm not against modding at all, just trying to get you a deal. The cables are out there, not expensive.

Well most of the ones I've seen on eBay (mainly ones with chroma and luma outputs) are around $10-20 and I'd much rather mod my C64 to take advantage of standard cables that I already have.
