phaxda #51 Posted October 29, 2008 (edited) I still love my Wii and never did buy a Gamecube. And I guess the online isn't "awesome" but I still have a blast playing Mario Kart and Dr. Mario and Tetris and that's good enough for me! Did the Gamecube have an SD Card slot and Photo Album? Or would that have to be an add-on as well? I am just wondering because my wife and I were looking at our wedding pictures on the Wii the other night and it was really kind of nice. I'd forgotten I'd even loaded them on the card, but when I went to the photo album, there they were! I guess that sounds like a simple kinda silly thing, but we had a load of fun watching the slideshow. Edited October 29, 2008 by phaxda
classicgamingguy #52 Posted October 29, 2008 That would have had to be an add-on to the Gamecube. The 'cube was just designed to play games.......that's it, no extra features at all. The mini discs were a "revoluntionary" step away from cartridges after the N64. Sadly, the Gamecube never did really well for Nintendo, but still sold reasonably. I've always liked the Gamecube, but I'm moving on to portable gaming, since my PC gets the main "game time".. -Steve
godslabrat #53 Posted October 29, 2008 Did the Gamecube have an SD Card slot and Photo Album? Or would that have to be an add-on as well? There actually was an official SD adaptor designed for the Japanese market. I don't know if it was ever released, and it certainly never made its way over to the US. DracIsBack #54 Posted October 30, 2008 Sadly, the Gamecube never did really well for Nintendo 22 million systems, 200+ million games and billions in profits ... It's interesting to see the revisionist history happening right now in the media with things like "when the GameCube bombed" appearing by journalists who are unfamiliar with the numbers. classicgamingguy #55 Posted October 30, 2008 Err, did I say, "not well"?? Hmm, perhaps I shouldn't listen to the internet hype..

Inky #57 Posted November 2, 2008 I had a GC, and may get another one. Mainly because of the GameBoy player. That thing kicked so much ass

The Gamecube didn't bomb in terms of profit due to Nintendo's business model - however in terms of lost market share and 3rd party support it definately was a failure. Nintendo has said they really couldn't afford another system to perform like the Cube did - even with their rule of selling systems at a profit instead of a loss there is a point where support could dry up and people simply wouldn't bother. I agree. I just wish some of the journalists who are remembering the GameCube these days remembered it this way and not the way they often are (bomb, miserable failure, no one bought bleah bleah). Math You #60 Posted November 5, 2008 I wouldn't be surprised if the Wii 2 (Wii Too) is just a Wii with a HDMI socket and hi-def upscaling.

swlovinist #62 Posted January 14, 2009 Yeah, the Wii 2 will be more just added features to the Wii. The Wii is too successful for a replacement in a year. I see them adding a hard drive(20 GIG), HDMI support, DVD playback and the new updated Wii Control upgrade built in.

This is the number one reason why my Gamecube is still hooked up alongside the Wii. I've also got the component cables, so the games look pretty sharp! (Well... as sharp as GB/GBC/GBA games can look )
