4 games not dumped from Virtual Boy's library-- any help?

Recommended Posts

Hi!

4 games that I know of are missing from Virtual Boy's "dumped" ROMs.

It seems to me that these should be dumped at a minimum for preservation purposes.

They are:

Virtual Bowling (JP)

Space Invaders (JP)

Virtual Lab (JP)

Gundam (JP)

So, the question is-- does anyone have these games (open, not sealed boxes), that they'd be willing to dump them?

Regards,

-John

I am pretty sure they are all dumped, but the people who own the games (and/or the roms) are hoarding them to keep the prices up...

Its possible the roms may never be distributed. :(

I remember there was a thread on a VB forum where somebody had put a dumper together, and was going to start dumping some rares. I think they had Space Invaders. But they hit a snag or something, and then the topic eventually lingered off into the dead zone.

Apparently I missed the original run of flash carts. Any idea if there are going to be more made? I finally dug my VB out from when I moved 3 years ago and I would like I get a cart for it.

These 4 titles not being dumped is the reason I didn't buy the VB Flash the first time around. Already have the 14 US released games, and most of those are available without much cost. Here's hoping these get released at some point, would be fun to try them out.

NONE of those games should be "sealed", since they're Japanese releases and Japan doesn't shrinkwrap their boxes the way the US does.

Wow! To me, that's crazy. In Atari land, Video Life may be dumped, but that doesn't effect the price of the cartridge at all.

For prototypes, it's different (if people know something is one of a kind, I can understand why they wouldn't want to dump it).

But, for games that are in the $300.00 range, I don't think rarity would be effected at all by dumping a ROM.

If it was something like that Horse Racing game, a one-of-a-kind proto, or Bound High, I could understand reluctance.

But, something that was commercially available, though limited, probably would maintain it's price, from my experience.

The thing is, if you go read the forum on VR32.de, some of the "serious collectors" have their panties in a knot because this release will 'ruin' the value of the rares in their collection...

I figured that nonsense would be in full swing shortly after. Since they are worthless now, let them feel free to mail me all the carts.

Hahaha. :rolling: Yeah, I figured that as well. They can send a few of them my way too.

Well tbh, the guy who released them to the public is a serious tool and deserves all the guff that is coming his way. He was the one who had the dumper and said he would release two of the four carts; for some reason he was unable to accomplish this. So instead he gets the private roms from someone else, writes an attention whore post, releases the private roms to the public, and essentially claims them as his own releases until someone calls him out on it. Going from hero to tool in less than 24 hours.

I'm very glad they are released, just wish it happened differently.
