Atarimania
Hi, www.atarimania.com has established something of a reputation as a software database for Atari 8-bit computers and the Atari 2600 VCS. We are now planning to launch our Atari ST section, but we need new members and contributors to join our 3 ST Database administrators team. Our goal is to preserve all software for the Atari ST, in its original form wherever possible, before it is lost forever. If you are an Atari ST collector, and you want to help to preserve the software for these classic machines, we'd like to hear from you. Thanks Atarimania team
+remowilliams
Neat! I've got ~150 PASTI images (created from my own originals) I could contribute if needed. I have ST manuals somewhere in my list of scanning projects, but I'm more focused on 8bit stuff at the moment.

lp060
This appears to be only game related? If so that's a shame. Other types of software are also slowly fading away.

No it's not only for games , we didn't forget utilities and demos

+remowilliams
Have they released the code so we can write the PASTI images back to disk? Not as of yet. I think Real Life™ has been keeping ijor busy for a while. @lp060 - I've imaged some utilities/apps too as well, such as Pagestream, etc.
advfan
Since I don't have an original 800XL or an ST anymore, I could contribute by buying games from Ebay and sending them to remowilliams so that he can convert them to VAPI or PASTI respectively. Having the game available as an atx or an stx file is enough pay for me. I also have some old catalogs from Nicroprose (4), Infogrames, Sierra, US Gold, Activision and SSI and the original instructions for Dive Bomber and Deja Vu II (ST) and NATO Commander (XL) in case you are interested in them for scanning. I also want to thank remowilliams for making available his VAPI collection recently. Edited October 27, 2008 by advfan

+CyranoJ
Hi AtariMania! Both GGN and myself are long time 8bit fans, and all of us at D-Bug have great respect for Ijor..... so if there's anything we can help with, just let us know! Good luck with the project, and in making it the *BEST* ST resource on the internet!
ggn
Although I gave my first 800XL with XF551 and all the casettes/floppies I had (something which I still regret :'( ), I still have about 12 issues of Atari User and a copy of a greek Atari newsletter (complete with type-in listings!). The Atari User issues are in pretty bad shape from the constant reading. If you're interested, drop me a line

Lots of pages! Just in case anyone can't wait here's the quick ref converted to BW from the original 'no copy' colored card. Tried both WinXP internal unarchiver and 7-Zip but both say pack is corrupted. Does someone still have this pack so we can upload it finally to Atarimania. Thanks Also if there's something other I've missed I apologise. Please get in touch and I'll fix this. +DarkLord
I just downloaded the first file, and under Kubuntu linux I get this: darklord@darkforce:~/Downloads$ unzip Starfleet_I.zip Archive: Starfleet_I.zip warning [starfleet_I.zip]: zipfile claims to be last disk of a multi-part archive; attempting to process anyway, assuming all parts have been concatenated together in order. +Guitarman
I was able to unzip it fine. Make sure you are renaming (or removing the .zip) from the z01-z05 files. And you also have to have all 6 files in the same location when unzipping. Start the unzip process using the Starfleet_I.zip file.
+DarkLord
Went back and double-checked everything, I got the same results: darklord@darkforce:~$ cd Downloads/ darklord@darkforce:~/Downloads$ dir Starfleet_I.z01 Starfleet_I.z03 Starfleet_I.z05 Starfleet_I.z02 Starfleet_I.z04 Starfleet_I.zip darklord@darkforce:~/Downloads$ unzip Starfleet_I.zip Archive: Starfleet_I.zip warning [starfleet_I.zip]: zipfile claims to be last disk of a multi-part archive; attempting to process anyway, assuming all parts have been concatenated together in order. marakatti
Didn't manage to unpack it either even with 7-Zip, but thanks to remowilliams link it's now uploaded on Atarimania too. So problem solved, thanks for the help
simonsunnyboy
Is 7-zip available for Linux? All I use here... 7-zip is available in the basic commadnline version. Most packer shells (ark, etc) support it.
+DarkLord
Yeah, I just give up on this - too much time, not enough return investment. Installed 7zip (it is apparently known as 7za in 'nix land). After installing, tried it: darklord@darkforce:~$ cd Downloads/ darklord@darkforce:~/Downloads$ dir Starfleet_I.z01 Starfleet_I.z03 Starfleet_I.z05 Starfleet_I.z02 Starfleet_I.z04 Starfleet_I.zip darklord@darkforce:~/Downloads$ 7za e Starfleet_I.zip 7-Zip (A) 9.04 beta Copyright © 1999-2009 Igor Pavlov 2009-05-30 p7zip Version 9.04 (locale=en_US.UTF-8,Utf16=on,HugeFiles=on,2 CPUs) Processing archive: Starfleet_I.zip Error: Can not open file as archive darklord@darkforce:~/Downloads$
