Atari 2600 UNIMEX cart duplicator

Recommended Posts

Today,

I turned up an Atari 2600 `UNIMEX` machine..it a cartridge duplicator I believe..

I posted a few photos of it..

The back of this machine states:

Caution:

This product is intended to be used for the Duplication of the owner`s Atari-Compatible Cartridges of the

VCS CX 2600. For the owner`s private archive... blah blah blah..

anyone know exactly how this works.. ?? besides the obvious

thank you

Paulie

This is a neat item. You take your game and a blank duplicator cart and it copies the game from your cart to the blank one.

The blanks are kinda hard to come by. I believe you can use blank eproms that are mounted on a 2k or 4k board and it should work the same. :ponder:

how neat is that...thanks...

i need a power supply for it, just to see if it works... can a standard 2600 power supply work with it ??

and if so, if it still doesn`t work, than what could be wrong with it ?? ( i never used it before, so who knows

if it works at all )

On the back. What does the voltage say for the power supply?

Okay, I got it to work ( turn on atleast ).. using an Atari 2600 Power supply ( 9V )

now, just to find a 2K or 4K Unimex cart..or maybe buy some Eprom boards ( and mount them into

many of my `common` carts ( removing the old board , and replacing them with these blank Eprom boards )

I've not seen one of those for YEARS. I don't remember which brand, but one I saw had battery-backed SRAM (same type of .300 CMOS SRAM chips like the TRS-80 model 100) and could not take EPROMS. I don't know if it was this one or a totally different one, but that allowed you to put different games on the cartridge, though only one at a time. Your average 2600 owner did not have access to a UV EPROM eraser...
