Copying files with long names onto a 16Mb image

Recommended Posts

I'm using emulator.

How I can copy files from a H1: hard drive to a 16Mb diskette with Mydos formatting. Every time I try with MyDos 4.53 or Sparta I get Error 170 or File not found.

On MyDos:

Option C

H1:*.*,d2:

On SpartaDOS:

COPY H1:*.*,d2:

Strange, because when I do a directory to view H1, works fine.

I have the H patch activated on emulator. Any help will be appreciated.

IIRC you have to specify filenames... Wildcards do not work with the H: patch...

Yep. Wildcards don't quite work properly.

Also, I believe you can experience problems if there's more than 64 files in the directory. But that might only be with the older DOSes.

Doesn't really bother me to much - they're host directories anyway, so just use Windoze to do file copy/moves.

I wrote a small Turbo-BASIC Program that copies all files on H4: to the Atari-Image.

I have used this program and with a small modification I can send ATAtext files to E: and if after reading the file I decide to copy to Atr I do so.

QUESTION: Can I add something that will stop the text scrolling at line 22, and continure after a key press?

I have added a PAUSE 200 before the GOTO 280, and reduced M=20000 to M=700 but it still is not perfect.

TIA

Aren't you on the LW beta testers list? LW will do pretty much everything you want with H: files. You can use the disk menu as an H: file manager and it works well.

Yes but!

I just like to do stuff with basic and I had not come across this feature in Turbobasic until this program. Moving files from a diskette with impossible to know the meaning for the extention or no extention at all. Plus on a CD 'Holmes' I have there are quite a few .xmo files that could be text or binary. This type of viewing on real Atari 800xl is faster than loading, viewing, and then clearing to load another. I view first segment pause with the GET K command and abort if it is not text, continue if it is text. Rename file to reflect actual type of file.

H: option is not available on Atari 800xl.
