I did beta testing. I was given a key to do testing for the software I use to run it in Linux. So I don't have to get it right away. I went through all the new zones. I should be able to wait a week or two and still be able to get to 80 around the same time as most of the people I run with.

 

I love the general look of the new continent though. I think WoW fans will be pleased.

I'll need to get Burning Crusade first. I've only been playing Warcraft since earlier this year, and took some time off when my then gf-now-fiancee stopped playing. But we're back in Azeroth as of last week.

 

I'm hoping I can get BC for a steal once Lich King comes out. She has it, I don't.

I went out and bought Burning Crusade. Funny thing is - when I put the DVD in the drive, there was no install button!

 

The explanation I got back from Blizzard is the last classic WoW patch/update included the content for Burning Crusade. So when you buy the retail package, all you need from that is the key to unlock it.

 

I found that a little annoying and irritating, because there I was with that expansion I just bought and it won't work. I still won't know for sure if I'll be able to have it running properly until I get home this evening.

 

I won't be buying Lich King for a while. I play with my fiancee and she has Burning Crusade, I didn't. So now we'll have the same. She won't be getting into Lich King ground for a while, so I won't be either. My highest character is only a Level 31 anyway, but I'm working on him.

 

But, yes, I think you do need BC before you can play LK. IIRC, BC increased the level limit from 60 to 70, and, again IIRC, you need to be L70 before you can get into the LK content, where the level limit is now 80.

The BC expansion you bought will work. Just login to your account on the website and click the upgrade button. Then you will type in the key and your account will be upgraded. There is no need to actually install any extra software. The content is already there and your BC-enabled account will be able to login to any computer with WoW installed.

Now that I am installing it I think I was wrong on that. However, you can do everything you need without the disc. You can upgrade your account in account management. Just punch the key into the upgrade interface. You can also download the installer. Simply go into the Account Management interface and on the first page there are some categories to select from. Under "Free Services" select "Download Game Client". This installer can install any one of WoW, TBC, or WotLK. No discs needed.

I told myself "I'm done with WoW", but since I had nothing to do and extra money I didn't see coming..

 

...I waited in line with my friend at midnight after work...

 

my gf was antsy and we hadn't even had dinner yet lol..

 

..and after that, I came to find out after all this time that THIS computer I'm stuck with for 2 weeks [i call it "Old Faithful"], didn't even have a DVD-ROM drive...

 

 

so I had to wait ANOTHER 7ish hours to install off the internet..

 

 

EDIT: the installer prompt also warned me that my CPU didn't meet the "minimum requirements", but I pretty much went "F U" and installed anyway.

 

slept a bit, woke up, and FINALLY got to try out the new "Hero Class" for a whopping 30 minutes until I was off to work/training again >_>

 

I'll be lucky if I can play a smooth game of WoW again by next.. ..thursday?

I liked WoW so much, I was hooked instantly. Since then I refrain from playing, as I really don't have the

time to spend on this addiction.

 

I'd love to have a few weeks like the old days, no obligations, no work, no nothing. Just eat drink sleep & play

I have never tried WoW myself (I am a long time EverQuest player though), but three days is insane. Sounds like Blizzard dropped the ball on that expansion.

The Death Knight class is uber cool, and I have to say I really like how they play out the story of the creation of the death knights.

I have a level 60+ something on Dethecus. All my other characters are lvl 30 and below. I used to make decent money buying and selling in the auction house. I had a program to keep track of all the prices for me so I knew what to buy and sell.

 

I'm never able to save up enough money for my Epic Mount let alone the flying mount and I got kind of pissed off.

My wife and I have been playing WoW since launch. I was in the open beta and got hooked so when it came out we went and got me a copy. We had just stopped playing Everquest about two or three months prior and my wife said she was through with MMORPGS. On the way home from the store with my new copy of WoW, I opened the box, took out the booklet, and started reading the history of the different races to her. (She was driving.) Anyway, she took a "wrong" turn and I asked, "Where are you going?" She said, "To Blockbuster." "Why," I asked. "To get me a copy."

 

We stopped playing about a year ago, then only this last week reactivated our accounts. I don't know how long it will be before we get WotLK, but since only one computer in the house has a DVD drive, it will have to be a digital download. And that's even if the other computers are capable of playing the game. Two of our computers (we have four on the home network) are somewhat unreliable and tend to reboot in the middle of playing.

 

We'll see.
