iratanam #1 Posted November 1, 2008 (edited) Well it had been awhile, and I thought I'd dig out my good ol' 7800 and do some serious playing. Went out to the storage building, tore it apart, and Wait a Sec...WTF!! Went back in the house and asked my wife where the WII box (7800 and all hook ups was in it) and the cardboard box with all the games in it was. She said..."Well I was cleaning out the building, picked up the Wii box and it felt empty, so I threw it away, as far as the games she don't know." BULLSHIT...I don't buy it, so anyway with my system and games gone of which I had invested close to $450 bucks (had alot of 2600 games also with it) and being layed off of work since Oct. 3rd looks Like I'm screwed now until I get back to work. How the hell do you through shit like that out, and believe me when you picked up the box the Wii came in, you could tell it wasn't empty!. Oh well..... Quick Edit....Now that I think of it, it wasn't a total loss, Karateka got thrown out with it, so it wasn't a total loss Edited November 1, 2008 by iratanam
Gregory DG #2 Posted November 1, 2008 Man, that sucks. I wouldn't have kept it in the Wii box though. Next time get some sturdy plastic storage bins and write in big letters on the side, "MY FRICKIN' ATARI STUFF. DO NOT THROW OUT!!!!!"

shadow460 #5 Posted November 1, 2008 I've had something similar to this happen, but I've replaced most of what was lost. It really sucks trying to get the last couple of three hard to find games, though. Another thing I don't like is that one of the systems was one owner. Its replacement, while also being from an early production run, is just not the same as the one I got on launch day.

Gone in the trash.. I ordered another the same night.

Atarifever #8 Posted November 2, 2008 (edited) My wife would never do that with the 7800. She doesn't personally care much for the system, but co-exists with it very well. If she needs to move the system for some reason she asks permission first, and handles it like it's made of crystal. I've got a great wife. AtariLeaf #9 Posted November 2, 2008 Yikes. Now that's a horror story. A 7800 with a bunch of carts and accessories weighs enough to know its not an empty box.
2600FunTimes #10 Posted November 2, 2008 Man, I'm REALLY sorry to hear about this :*(( I guess you'll just have to make the next collection ten times better, should definitely follow up on this so we know you got everything fixed :33 I love your positive attitude regarding the Karateka cart.. that port could make anything feel empty when in reality it's not.. including myself after the first time I ever [..tried] to play it. iratanam #12 Posted November 2, 2008 Yikes. Now that's a horror story. A 7800 with a bunch of carts and accessories weighs enough to know its not an empty box. The 7800, controllers and the hook-ups were the only ones in the Wii box, which I can almost buy she thought it was empty. All the games however were in a larger cardboard box and heavy, I can't buy she thought it was empty, but the Wii box I almost can. I did replace one of my carts this afternoon, I live in a much Atari Deprived area and had to get all my stuff by ordering online. I stopped at a Garage Sale, looked like all they had was a bunch of glassware and clothes, but in the bottome of a box of shoes, I found a Berzerk cart. Cost me $.50 but it was one of the 2600 carts that I lost along with about 150 others (2600 & 7800 together with some doubles pac-man etc.)

I don't know really. A few years ago when we lived in an apartment and had a roommate move out, us and our other roommate decided to just keep the room empty. One day I came home and she had made it into a games room for me. In our house now, she's given me the unfinished basement, and I am allowed to do whatever I want with it now and when we finish it. Right now it has a foosball table, poker table, and the 7800, O2, and Master System. I think I just lucked out in getting an incredible wife.

Take good care of her, and make sure she gets her regular exams!! I lost my wife to ovarian cancer a little over 2 years ago. She sounds like a good woman, so take good care of her! She gets the exams. She's pregnant right now, so she gets all kinds of exams. She's a very good woman (example from just last night: she reminded me Dr. Who was on tonight so I wouldn't forget. Normally I forget the time and she reminds me to watch it, but this week she's visiting family back home; she watches it with me, even though she doesn't like it). Very sorry to hear about your loss. It's kind of scary, but pretty much every woman who dies in my wife's family dies of cancer. The Grandmother she's named after died of it at something like 35. phuzzed #18 Posted November 21, 2008 That sucks. This is why I keep all of my stuff in my own "man cave area" and is completely off limits to the girlfriend or whatever. She is not to clean, touch, move, breath, on any of my video game stuff w/o permission. I have even considered putting security cameras in

phuzzed #20 Posted November 22, 2008 The more I think about this, the sicker it makes me. i know about a few years back, i was dating this girl, and she was saying something like "When we get married, I don't know if you can have all of this stuff.... you may have to sell it". I immediately piped up and said "hey, i can replace you a lot easier than I can this stuff".. Needless to say, i did not marry that girl... .I wonder why? Atarifever #22 Posted November 22, 2008 (edited) Geez guys, how hard is it to find an attractive blond girl who watches Dr. Who with you and respects your nerdy videogame hobby? Plus she cooks. And wants to be a homemaker. And plays Guitar Hero... a lot. And is willing to marry a scrawny geeky guy with glasses. And quits her job to move with you when you get a better one. Twice. I mean there must be, what, three of those on the entire planet. So, you know, there's two left somewhere. suaiden #23 Posted November 22, 2008 A good marriage is more important than any video game. While it's a depressing loss, perhaps it really was an accident. Full Disclosure: my wife plays the 7800 with me whenever I hook it up and is considerably better than me at Ms Pac Man.
Almost Rice #24 Posted November 22, 2008 My wife makes fun of me for playing with my Atari, but I have gotten her hooked on football and coffee. So if I can let her understand why I play with the Atari and assorted systems she will be more understanding. BTW, my wife bought me a CC2 for Christmas 2005. I had a similar discussion, except mine said she was wprried "about this" and she tapped on the monitor hooked to my hot rod PC. I think I was playing Jedi Knight II or something. We weren't even dating at the time, and I told her if she wanted to date me to get used to the games. I didn't (and still don't) need anyone, even though now we are happily married and she has gotten used to the games. Hey, if she can sit in the same room while I am hollering at Red Alert 2 or Hydro Thunder and just ignore me, I think she's adjusted to my gaming pretty well.
