NightSprinter #1 Posted November 8, 2008 (edited) I just got a VERY sweet haul of AtariST stuff from a musician off Craigslist. He was giving away a lot of stuff for the computer (including an ST), what he didn't mention was just exactly WHAT was in the lot. I picked up the following: Atari 1040STf Atari 1040 STE (matching serial for computer and box) Atari STacy (dead or corrupted harddrive) Atari SH204 drive Atari SM124 monochrome monitor Atari SC1435 RGB stereo monitor numerous disks (some duplicate, cracked, or misc. stuff), but the original disks I got were: STE Language Disk - USA ST Language Disk - USA Steinberg Synthworks D-50 Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing Atari ST User Oct. 1993 disk with Timeworks Word Writer Digidesign Sound Designer Digidesign Sound Designer II Master Tracks ProIntelligent Music Realtime pre-release demo disk Timeworks Data Manager ST Disk 1 (somehow missing the rest) Timeworks Partner ST program and thesaurus disks Multi Desk MIDIMAX Hybrid Arts EditTrack Gold Straight Fax 2.1 Warp 9 Silent Service STalker 3 NeoDesk4 Icon disk and Master Disk Diamond Back II STalker V3.05 patch disk CardFile 4 I would say this is quite nice for free. NightSprinter #3 Posted November 8, 2008 Hmm, this is odd. The drive on the STacy2 seems to be intermittent, SH204 will not boot up regardless of which ST/STE I connect to, the STf needs a TOS replacement (don't even get a menu much less the disk drive icons), and the power button to the SC1435 won't stay in the "on" position. Still a nice haul.
Christos #4 Posted November 8, 2008 SH204 is broken. STf needs reseating of the chips inside it, SC1435 can be repaired by a tv repairman. Nice haul indeed.

NightSprinter #6 Posted November 9, 2008 (edited) Well, a few more updates on the condition of the items I received. The SH204 in fact DOES show up on all ST computers tested on, but the data may be beyond recovery (constantly getting a "data damaged" error), and the SM124 monitor needs some working on to get its picture back in order. I'll probably send the STacy2, monitors, and SH204 off to Best for refurbishing and have to find a cracked image of my Synthworks D-50 disk, but other than that it's great. Update - 11/09/2008 4:41PM EST: W00T!!! After getting the 1040STf back up and running (thanks to Christos for mentioning about the loosened TOS chips), I plugged in the monochrome monitor and the SH204 booted and everything after resetting the time and date! Everything works beautifully, save for the STacy2's intermittent drive (doesn't always boot up, but does boot up into KCS when it works, and some of the function keys stick, in addition to a glitchy monitor socket and faded LCD). I'm even happier with this haul than I was before! Edited November 9, 2008 by NightSprinter

anzac #16 Posted December 15, 2008 mannnnn... your "office" looks just as messy as mine... we should have a thread where we could show the vaults we dwell in... at to people that understand (unlike our wife´s/husbands if they are anything like mine)
_The Doctor__ #17 Posted December 22, 2008 SH204 is broken. STf needs reseating of the chips inside it, SC1435 can be repaired by a tv repairman. Nice haul indeed. Make sure you are using the right cable in the right direction on that sh204, I have one that is from the very first days and it will only work with one cable and have marked it as such.... the cable works with all the other hd's but it is the only one that works with that particular sh204. I do not know why. If you have an orginal first run like I do try a few cables until you find the correct one. Does it spin up? if not you may need to unstick the drive... NightSprinter #18 Posted December 22, 2008 Well, the SH204 actually does work, I apparently can't get it to work with my STacy2 due to the drive ID set on it (as the STacy2's internal drive is also set to ID0).
