S1500 #1 Posted November 9, 2008 I was in a difficult position: buy Saints Row 2 or Fallout 3? For/against: Fallout 3 For: I never finished Fallout 1, feel bad about it. For: I don't have any RPGs, let alone ones set in the future For: Need an Xbox 360 game Against: heard it was buggy Saints Row 2 For: I like GTA-style games For: By the time it goes to the $20 bin, all multiplayer fun will be dried up For: Looks like fun Against: Do I need yet another GTA game in my lib? I went to Best Buy and there were no copies of Fallout 3, save for the pricier collectors editions. Oddly enough, there was a Fallout 3 "trooper" statue there. I don't recall any tv advertising for Fallout 3(much less any other PC games), but they are going all out promoting Fallout 3 on TV, etc. Strange. Then again, GTA 1 & 2 never got TV ads either. Well, i bought Saints Row 3 instead. Multiplayer is disappointing. Yeah, I know I would get killed hundreds of times, but the rounds are short & I have to jump through hoops to do another round, unlike GTA4. The jump button is X, not A like I'm used to with other games. I also want to use the triggers for driving, but can't config it that way. Oh well. I felt I should have bought Fallout 3 instead and got into that. Heck, last night I took out SR2 and put Lego Star Wars back in.

I loved SR2, though I have a couple of gripes... - Man is this thing buggy. I've fallen through the ground, have had people magically appear in front of me, cars I'm chasing just disappear, bodies riding on the roof of my car, etc. - It's short! I've won the game in less than 25 hours. - How many racing activities do I need? The positives... - Very fun co-op multiplayer. The ability to play through the game with a friend online made it tons of fun - It's GTA with a touch of fun added - it doesn't take realism seriously. I'm not sure I like it as much as SR1, but I would recommend it.

Artlover #4 Posted November 9, 2008 Fallout 3For: I never finished Fallout 1, feel bad about it. For: I don't have any RPGs, let alone ones set in the future For: Need an Xbox 360 game Against: heard it was buggy It's no more buggy then F3 is. Saints Row 2For: I like GTA-style games For: By the time it goes to the $20 bin, all multiplayer fun will be dried up For: Looks like fun Against: Do I need yet another GTA game in my lib? If you like GTA games, then SR2 is great. It's better then GTA4 in so many ways. Maybe not quite as realistic, but it works here because it gives you/your character more freedom to play how you want to play. The only truly bad part about it is the activities. Too much requirement on them. he jump button is X, not A like I'm used to with other games. I've never seen any consistancy regarding this. I sure don't see most or even a lot of games using A to jump. I also want to use the triggers for driving, but can't config it that way. Oh well. Yes you can. Driving control scheme B. I felt I should have bought Fallout 3 instead and got into that. Heck, last night I took out SR2 and put Lego Star Wars back in. Sorry you don't seem to like it, which is odd since you like GTA games. I loved SR2, though I have a couple of gripes... - Man is this thing buggy. I've fallen through the ground, have had people magically appear in front of me, cars I'm chasing just disappear, bodies riding on the roof of my car, etc. Body riding on your car isn't a bug as far as I'm concerned, just propper physics. Those other issues are bugs. Tho none that I personaly saw. Oddly, I have seen problems with falling through the floor into the sky in F3. My biggest gripe about SR2 is that it would lock up at the drop of a hat. If I could play 6 hours non-stop without rebooting, I was luckly. Not that F3 didn't lock up a lot too, but less then SR2 did. - It's short! I've won the game in less than 25 hours. I dunno. Took me longer to finish SR2 then F3, and I finished F3 in like 33 hours, and that was with wasting time. I wasted time in SR2 too, but between the two, if you try to finish the game in the least amount of time possible (ie: going straight to only the missions that advance the story line towards finishing), you can finish F3 quicker then SR2. The thing about F3 is that there are still many ways to finish, with slightly different endings wrapped around everything you did during the game, so it has replay value. It's not even possible to get 100% achievements without playing it to finish atleast 3 seperate times. So much to see, so much to do. Once you finish SR2, there is no reason to play again, short of just to run around like a psychopathic naturist for no reason. - How many racing activities do I need? Yeah. I really disliked most of the activities. There was a hugh bias towards racing activities of one sort or another, but even on a whole. I could understand the need for some of them early on, but not later after you've established yourself. When you have 44/45 missions complete, millions in the bank, all the cribs, huge posse, etc... Why the hell am I still be told I need to increase my respect and to do a activity before I can play the final mission. Bull f'in s--t! They are both good in their own right. It depends on what you are looking for in a game.
S1500 #5 Posted November 10, 2008 I just bought Fallout 3. Much to my surprise, there were quite a few Wiis available(mall of america). I'll play it after my shows.
+RandomPerson #6 Posted November 10, 2008 Even if Saints Row 2 was the better game I wouldn't support the company by purchasing it cause they fucked most of the PS3 programming team in the ass with pink slips right after they produced the final product. PressureCooker2600 #8 Posted November 10, 2008 Saints Row 2 is n excellent game as well. It satisfied my need for that type of game. I made sure I beat it before Fallout 3 came out.....so I could dedicate all my afterwork time to it.
