Artlover #1 Posted November 14, 2008 So, after getting tired of Fallout 3. And hating Monopoly so much it made me wanna puke, I decided to try this. GFX, eh. Plot, ok. Play, pretty damned fun 99% of the time, except where you get drugged and have to make it back to your car. But boy do I have a complaint. SHORT, with a capital SHORT! I finished the game, start to finish, in like 3 and a half hours. WTF!!? Lets see, $60 / 3.5 = $17.14 an hour = Activision can go join the list of rip-off game companies that can go f--k themselves. It wasn't THAT much fun. I can only assume all the money that went into the game development was spent paying for Daniel Craig's likeness since it obviously wasn't spent on things like content or top notch gfx. godslabrat #2 Posted November 14, 2008 Thanks, ArtLover. I've been remembering my good times with GoldenEye 007 and GoldenEye: RA, and it occurs to me that I haven't had a new Bond game in a while. This game is really, really tempting... but I don't have a ton of cash right now and $60 is pretty steep (or even $70 for the swag-enhanced version). Bond in HD sounds so good... but should I spring for it now, or wait six months and get it at half price? Your post is encouraging me to do the latter. Shawn #6 Posted November 15, 2008 WTF?! Hmmm Maybe it included a copy of the movie and you accidently put that in instead of the game??? Hahahaha. Boy, I wish. Where you playing it on 00 Agent? I'm playing it on 00 Angent and it's no walk in the park. I'm playing the Wii version and so far this game seems great.
Artlover #7 Posted November 15, 2008 Where you playing it on 00 Agent? I'm playing it on 00 Angent and it's no walk in the park. I'm playing the Wii version and so far this game seems great. When I first played it, I played it on "New Recruit", the easiest level. Then I started playing it a second time on "007" the hardest level - Here is what I discovered. It's exactly the same game only it's easier for you to die. That's the ONLY difference that I saw. - The highly linear story line and movement path is the same. - Same number of enemies in the same places that die just as easily. Actually, to be honest, it seems like enemies are EASIER to kill playing it on hard then it did when I played on easy. I got through White's Estate just as quick on both difficulty settings. - Hacking locks and terminals is no more difficult. It seems like maybe they shortened the length of the DDR style hacking ever so slightly, but not so much that it makes any difference in successfully completing it. So yeah, other then making is easier to die yourself, there is no difference. And since there is always some place to take cover for a few seconds to recover, that's kind of a moot point. I don't see the difficulty as adding any signifigant length to game play time. You'll just die and respawn a few more times during it. Besides, not that it seems to matter in this game anyways, but; I've personally never found trying to pad a game out by simply making it harder to be a legimiate tactic. Difficulty and amount of content to play through are two different things. Halo 2 and Halo 3 did that. Didn't make the game "longer", it just "dragged it out". It's biggest flaw to why it's so short is just how slot car track linear it is. There is no exploring, there is no back tracking, there is no dead ends, there is no choice. There are only a few places where there is more then one way to go, but they all cross and lead to the same point regardless. You shall go forward and that is it. About the only thing you have a choice in is if you want to be stealthy or go in guns blazing, and even that is a pseudo choice that doesn't effectively change much and is also only presented as a tactical option in a few places. Like I said, it's FUN, and it's not without challenge. But it just lacks content. It left me with a Halo 2 momment - Playing it a bit, not intending to finish, but just wanting to make a little progress, and it's over before you even start to think of putting it down to come back to later. Atleast for you Wii players, you have one advantage. It's $10 buck cheaper then the 360/PS3 version.
moycon #8 Posted November 15, 2008 Here is what I discovered. It's exactly the same game only it's easier for you to die. We've all seen this before. The major difference between the difficulty levels is...you can now die by getting hit a couple/few times instead of a dozen times. Being killed by less enemy fire doesn't make the game better in my experience. Does this game offer online multi-play?
Rogmeister #9 Posted November 15, 2008 I caught part of the review of this game on XPlay...they gave it 3 out of 5 which marks it as an "okay" in my book but nothing special. I don't recall them commenting that it was a short game...they may have and I just forgot.
Artlover #10 Posted November 15, 2008 Does this game offer online multi-play? Yes. You'll have to ask someone else how that is tho. I don't multiplayer, online or off. I caught part of the review of this game on XPlay...they gave it 3 out of 5 which marks it as an "okay" in my book but nothing special. I don't recall them commenting that it was a short game...they may have and I just forgot. Gamespot gave it 7 out of 10 - Good, but concluded the review by saying "It's unfortunate that Quantum of Solace's single-player mode is so short-lived". It's a shame because it really is/was fun to play.

He'll I could beat the game in no time on "very easy" anyone could. It's like being bulletproof. Takes all the fun out of the game all together. moycon #12 Posted November 15, 2008 Getting shot 12 times to die is rediculous. Right, taking 3 steps and getting killed by an unseen assailant isn't much fun either. Regardless, how many times you can get hit before you die doesn't make a game in my book, especially since most games now you can adjust the difficulty. I don't want to bump up the difficulty to Very Hard to make a 3.5 hour game a 6 hour game. All that means is I spent 2.5 hours dying more.
Artlover #13 Posted November 15, 2008 Getting shot 12 times to die is rediculous. He'll I could beat the game in no time on "very easy" anyone could. It's like being bulletproof. Did you read everything I said regarding this? I played it both ways. For this game anyways, making it easier to die doesn't make it any harder nor take any signifigant time longer. Your recovery time is the same, respawn time is quick, and it has quite a lot of checkpoints so you're not having to redo any large amounts of story any time you die, which shouldn't be happening much at all if you just use the abundant cover that is always all around. Just don't duck behind a propane tank is all. Maybe the problem is I played it on easy first, so I knew exactly what to do, who would be where and where to go. So despite playing it on hard later, there was no challenge left. But then, that is inherently another fault. Shouldn't difficulty alter the mechanics to compensate? Like atleast make it harder to kill the enemy or make them move differently or something? Difficulty here adds virtualy nothing to "this" game. It's like being bulletproof. Hardly. I still died just as much playing it on easy. Takes all the fun out of the game all together. Matter of opinion I think. Personally, I'm not a hardcore gaming and really hate and despise games that are excessively hard just for the sake of being hard, particularly for the purpose of padding it out because it has no content. Again to make a Halo reference. Playing Halo 3 on Legnadary did NOT make it more fun, just disgustingly tedious.

I agree about making it tedious and that it is personal preferance to play it on the harder settings. I like the challange of having to memorize where all the bad dudes are, ect. iswitt #16 Posted November 18, 2008 I'm disappointed to hear this. It seems like games are getting crappier and crappier. Halo 3's campaign was a bust, Super Smash Bros. Brawl was nothing to get excited about, Lost Planet was a bust, and Gears 2 is laggy as hell (besides Epic being A holes). Heck, I've had more fun playing Tetris Evolution than any of the games that supposed to be "good". I was looking forward to a new Bond game. I guess I'll just see if I can borrow it from a friend to save money. But did anyone see the movie? I thought it was pretty good. Definitely worth seeing it in a theater!
