ApolloBoy #1 Posted November 16, 2008 I might be getting a 400 soon, and since I hate RF, I was wondering how difficult it would be to mod it for S-video. I assume I'd have to build an amplifier circuit for the chroma and luma signals and solder the board to certain resistors, right?
Rybags #2 Posted November 16, 2008 There's this article from a magazine decades ago http://www.atarimagazines.com/v3n1/littlebrother.html Unsure if anyone's developed it further, but that'll give you seperate chroma/luma.
re-atari #3 Posted November 16, 2008 There's this article from a magazine decades ago http://www.atarimagazines.com/v3n1/littlebrother.html Unsure if anyone's developed it further, but that'll give you seperate chroma/luma. Be advised though, that the article's text contains some errors. The partslist lists incorrect resistors and caps as well as incorrect values. These parts and their values are ok in the schematic itself, so you should use that for reference. Antic published a small erratum a few months later, check it at: http://www.atarimagazines.com/v3n3/help.html re-atari
ApolloBoy #4 Posted November 18, 2008 This guy who modded his 400 used a 5200 mod from 8bitdomain: http://www.grandideastudio.com/portfolio/atari-k-9/ I'm assuming the 400 would have no problem with the mod, am I right?

Thats pretty interesting, I guess that as long as you know where to pick up the signals it should work. I have sent them an e-mail asking how they connected it up. Wonder if the Longhorn Engineer mod could be made to work.

That guy was me I did it a few years ago, but IIRC, I just used the stock 5200 Video Mod from 8bitdomain. I don't think I had to make any changes. Is the GTIA the same in both the 400 and 5200?

Is the GTIA the same in both the 400 and 5200? The NTSC GTIA chip is the same on the 5200 and the 400. Different on the PAL 400 though I am not sure what the differences are, and if I could use the mod in pal land. If you do buy the mod from 8bit domain, don't expect it until next year
mimo #9 Posted November 20, 2008 Mike at 8bit domain says that the mod should work on a 400. Maybe it would also work on an NTSC 600?
