Atari VCS Heavy Sixers

Recommended Posts

Hi My name is Sean

I repair a very old VCS system. All the Chips in side were dated from may of 1978. Now my case is newer because I found this system with no case,so I put it into another heavy sixer case. Now has anyone really run into a super low serial number that would place your system in 1977..

I would really like to find a true VCS system that is date from 1977 in any month. Well I also need to find the Keypad covers for Basic Programing. The lay

overs that go over each Kepad giving you the words they use in basic language....

Well Thanks And GOD BLESS

Sean

I really should check... I was buying up old 2600s from the local Swap Shop about 10 years ago... and one of the ones I had actually had a date on the back on a sticker that had the Atari address on it and it said something like May 8th, 1977. Sunnyvale California I think was the city. I don't even know what I did with half of them. I had several heavy sixers. The big HUGE heavy ones with the massive pot-metal heat sink inside with the 6 switches...

Are you looking to purchase one of these? I'm almost positive I have at least one of them. I have a large inventory of 2600s, and I am about to start selling them. I have held onto them over the years thinking that I'd need backups, but they don't ever seem to die.

I also have a 2800. Yep, a 2800. It was a Sears model with unique controllers.

Thats the Sears Video Arcade II, not particularly rare, unlike the 2800 which is like hens teeth

Very true, it's the Arcade II. It is labeled "2800" on the bottom, though. I thought the Arcade II was pretty rare too, but I guess not. I have posted it before on another forum, and I received a lot of "huh?" responses. ;)

Just had a look at mine, it is also states 2800 on the fcc label,I guess Atari got type aproval on the 2800 and carried it over to the VAII as it has the same guts.

Maybe my statement "not particularly rare " is not quite right, they do pop up on ebay fairly regularly, you also see them in the Marketplace here, a 2800 is a very rare beast though.

Love the looks of my SVAII, very similar to my 7800 :D

I thought all the Heavy Sixers were built in 1977, but they weren't all built in California.

They came out in early 1978 in 1978 style boxes too. I also thought that the realease of the heavies didn't come out until October 1977. May 18th 1977? Didn't know they came out that early. Did they? :ponder:
