Bowser N64 #1 Posted December 1, 2008 (edited) Hi, I have some old Game Boy Advance game cartridges, such as Super Mario Advance and Super Mario World. The label stickers on the cartridge are looking old and worn. It's a pity they are not shiny like my other games. Is there any way to maybe print out commercial quality new artwork sticker labels to replace on the cartridges? I like having stuff looking new. Help is appreciated, thanks. monzamess #5 Posted December 3, 2008 Buy new carts? I think anything you might print yourself will look crummy compared to the originals and anything professionally printed will be too expensive. You could get close if you can find very high-res label scans and print on adhesive glossy paper.
doubledown #6 Posted December 3, 2008 I think you wouldn't have any problems "printing" the reproductions. The biggest problem is getting the scan to start from. If I'm not mistaken the GBA carts have a hump on the edge so that you can pull the carts out easier. With this hump you can't lay the cart flat onto a scanner to be able to get a good hi-res scan to start with.

Try taking some clean, clear glass (picture frame glass works well) and laying the non-bump part of the cart on that.
Reaperman #9 Posted December 3, 2008 (edited) I would think the price of archival inks and papers would make this far more costly than simply replacing a few games. If you cheap out on supplies, your labels will yellow--even more than they normally do. If I recall, the one homebrew cart I own for the system (blast arena advance) just uses a good inkjet label. While I'm sure decent materials were used, I remember the quality (especially finish) were not as good as factory labels. I like to avoid the whole situation. When I started using flash carts, I never stopped buying games, and just started leaving them sealed in their box. Not that it's a real solution... Bowser N64 #10 Posted December 3, 2008 Wow, well, that's a good idea about using picture glass. a VERY good idea. I'll have to research the price of inks and paper.
