BigO
Could be a problem with the power socket in the console or a broken wire in the power supply plug. Try plugging it in, get it powered up and jiggle the cord and plug where it connects to the 2600.

WWWWaaaaaaa? anybody know why this happened? i dont know why is did that..... My guess would be either A: your power adapter is bad. or B: the power jack in your console is bad. But, it could also be a faulty power switch. If you really want to fix it, there's resources out there, but I'd recommend just picking up a "new" one off of ebay. vaderlover
Don't know if your electronically inclined but you can take the board out and try cleaning around the power switch contact or see if it's come loose. Check the power jack connector too. If you can't see anything loose, cold solder joints or dust buildup...a new unit or power supply may be your best bet.
